How do you calculate 'Games Back' in a sport Standings when Ties are involved.?

Question:How do you calculate Games Back from a division leader when ties are involved in the equation?

Answers:

In 1967, who finished second to Carl Yastrzemski for the Red Sox team lead with 20 home runs?

Games back is simply the number of games that team would have to win in a head to head matchup to take over first so if you have two teams:

A 25 wins 17 losses 5 ties
B 21 wins 26losses 0 ties

Team B would be 6 and a half games back, and would need to win 7 games against Team A to have a better winning percentage.

What's your favortie mlb team and why?

IN baseball standings ties are not included in the official records. If you are in a youth division use the same formula as you would normally use ( games differential in wins and losses coilumn added together and divide by 2 ) just count the ties as a 1/2 win 1/2 loss.

Odds are you will not need this info.
