You can't take too much from ONE game. That being said, they ARE playing a team that many considered superior to them last year (Their regular season record would indicate this is true.), and a team that will again contend for postseason honors.

Also, I really don't know if the Cardinals ARE as good as many people say. There are a lot of question marks, largely with the pitching. Edmonds is not what he once was, and I think most Cardinal fans worry about Scott Rolen staying healthy for an entire season. You have to remember that St. Louis WAS only 83-79 last year, but really turned it on in the postseason. It's not like they were a dominant team, by any means, not until they faced Detroit, anyway.

As long as they have Albert Pujols and the managing of Tony LaRussa and the front office skills of Walt Jocketty, they'll be competitive. I definitely think they'll make the playoffs, but I wouldn't have your heart set on another World Championship.

Could you imagine Barry Bonds breaking the record in Dodger Stadium?
