Wooden or metal baseball bats?
Question:I am in a mens 15-18 year travel team and i have used a metal bat my whole life. I was at a sporting goods store and saw a wooden bat i liked and I was wondering if there are any problems with them. Wooden bats are legal in my league as long as they have any type of grip. If they are good, which kinds/brands are the best.

well metal bats won't breakYou're an old-timer at heart, obviously. Go for the wood, man! Doesn't get any more classy than that. Way to go.
They'll be harder to swing, but if your up to it then get a customized Louiville slugger

wooden..because i got hit in thee face with a metal one in fourth grade..but you didn't need to know that:)
Aluminium bats do break, too. They just don't do so as often.
Aluminium bats consist entirely of what's known as a "sweet spot". That means that no matter where on the bat the ball meets the bat, you can get decent action. It also means that you can develop some bad habits as a hitter by using metal bats.
If you honestly feel that you might have a chance to play professionally, get used to using wood. If not, then it's entirely your choice. Just remember, though, that no matter what type of bat you use or what company made that bat, it's about the archer and not the bow.
Louisville Slugger is the best
what you should do if you want to use a wooden bat, is go to Louisville slugger and order about 5-10 bats. Because the bats in the stores blow. Wooden bats are also the same weight as metal bats. The only thing is when you get jammed is gonna hurt like a mother. As far as brands go ssk is my favorite brand. I'd look on the internet or ask your coach maybe he can catch you a deal. Also if you want to know if a wooden bat is good, the wider the lines on the bat the more stable from breaking.
Do you think the A's will let Haren, Blanton, and Harden slip away like Zito, Hudson, and Mulder?
I always used a Louisville SluggerPRO: nothing sweeter than the crack of the bat when you hit it in the sweet spot.
CONs:
1. You are dead meat on a pitcher that knows how to pitch inside. He'll saw it off in your hands
2. Can break easily on inside or outside pitch(cue it off the end of the bat and it will split down the middle).
3. You can got through $50 in one at bat
4 tickets to dodger game on may 13th.any offers?
metal bats are the best!!!!wood is authentic but can be dangerous when it breaks.
Who would you rather see break the all time home run record?
Depends on your ability level and your current progression opportunities.Metal: Lighter (more bat speed), ball travels farther, easier to hit faster pitchers
Wooden: Teaches better mechanics and hand-eye coordination because if you don't hit it solid on the barrel the ball will go nowhere, increases hitters strength over time because of the heavier weight, teaches hitters better bat control and how to adjust to different pitches better than metal
A metal bat will drastically improve your stats and abilities at the plate over a wooden bat. The ball comes off the bat faster and travels farther. However, if you want to improve your skills and not just pad your stats, then go with the wooden bat because it will increase your strength and bat speed for when you switch back to metal bats if you're looking to play in college.
If you happen to have scouts watching, go with the metal because that's what we're used to guys using that aren't playing professionally. It will allow you to hit better and college scouts don't care how well you can swing a wooden bat, just a metal.
If you owned a major league baseball team and had the opportunity?
u should use a metal bat for your league but wooden bats are cheaper and good for bp. i suggest any louisville slugger, mizzzuno or easton.Buck Estrada Ruiiz Douiment Molina?
you cant beat the sound of a ball hitting a woody.Do you think the chicago cubs will ever start being a threat in the MLB?
Wooden bats.I used both when I played high school ball. I was a switch hitter, but naturally right handed. I had considerably faster hands from the right side and tended to be out in front of most pitches, so I used a wooden bat to help out with that. From the left side, I used a metal bat.
Personally, I found that the "sweet spot" on a wooden bat was much better when you hit it, but was a lot smaller; the metal bat was more forgiving if you hit a ball off the end of the bat or too far inside. I did break quite a few bats, but they weren't too expensive to replace.
My advice would be to take both to the cages and to practice and see which you like best.
wooden. the us congress should sign a bill baning metal bats !
