If you're comparing the 07 Cubs to the 06 Cubs, going farther than last year won't be all that hard. Lou Piniella got his wish, pried open the pocketbooks in the front office, and bought a lot of offensive clout. Time will tell if it was money well-spent.But, as always, pitching will be the deciding factor in every team's fate. i don't think so, i just can't see a team with a pitching staff this weak getting very far...they can score runs in bunches but when it comes down to it pitching will win out, and the cubs do not have the pitchers to make noise

First of all, its further not farther.Second of all, yes. They will definitely do better than last year (They would be hard-pressed to do worse). They are one of the most improved teams since last season.
I can see them coming in second in their division. Their rotation is pretty good and they have some good offense. They can win as many games as their bullpen allows.
