Considering that the pads entire pitching staff is amazing enough to carry them deep into the playoffs i'd say he has very little impact. I will say that the padres lineup isn't too intimidating though, so if he does get any kind of decent season together he can make an impact. Staying healthy and playin wud be key to him, the last two healthy seasons he had with TB and SF he put up over 20 homers, and 65+ rbi's, and his #'s before that were even better, so its just a matter of which jose cruz shows up i think.

For the short answer, no. If the Padres make a deep run in the playoffs it will have nothing to do with him at all. It will be all about them having probably the best pitching staff in the NL if not all of baseball. They remind me of the Astros a few years ago with Clemens, Pettite, and Oswalt. The pitching is awesome and they hit just enough to be a good but not great team.
