Why do some MLB teams get a day off after opening day?
Question:I don't understand why MLB seems to schedule an off day for a lot of teams the day after opening day. It's the only time I can think of that teams will have an off day in the middle of a series. It also seems like a waste of a day off. Could they really need a rest after just 1 game? Does anybody have an idea as to why they schedule it this way? I noticed several teams have a day off tomorrow and the Cardinals have had the second day of the season off for the past several years, this one included.

Its for teams that player in cooler climes with chances of rain and snowouts, without screwing the fans and playing the 2nd scheduled game as the opener (which could piss people off if they only bought game 1 tix).Also, the teams that play on sunday night, always get monday off.
