Baseball : Does the run count ?

Question:Situation : runners in 3rd an 2nd, one out.
Line drive to center field for an apparent base hit.

Runner in 3rd scores easily.
Runner in 2nd is tagged out by catcher on the center field's throw for the 2nd out of the inning.
Batter/runner takes 2nd base on the play at home but misses to touch first base.
Defense makes an appeal and batter/runner is called out by umpire for the third out.

Does the run count or not ?
Third out is on the batter who failed to touch first base but when the runner crossed home plate, there was only one out, not two ... What do you think about ?

Who is going to win the stanly cup?

The run does not count, as the batter-runner committed the third out before he touched first base.

"I have added the CHi White Sox to my Scoreboard and their score is never displayed, although my others are.

Yes. The inning ending third out, which was the tag at home, came after the run crossed the plate. The runner at 2nd had advanced to 3rd fairly before being tagged out going for the extra base. Call second out on the hitter, the run should still score.

Who was the last St.Louis Cardinal to win NL MVP?

Run counts. Runner crossed home when there was only one out, and there is no forced play.

Who is sick of hearing about is Roger Clemens gonna retire or come back?

Run counts, and the batter who didn't step on first still gets credited with the RBI.

Men only: I'm a college student (20 y/o). Is this haircut a good thing for me to ask for?

WOW THAT'S A CRAZY PLAY, I've never thought about that before, let alone experienced it...here's what I found:

MLB RULEBOOK
Official Rules:7.00 (The Runner)
Rule #7.10 (Any Runner Shall Be Called Out, On Apeal, When)
b) With the ball in play, while advancing or returning to a base, he fails to touch each base in order before he, or a missed base, is tagged.
APPROVED RULING: (1) No runner may return to touch a missed base after a following runner has scored. (2) When the ball is dead, no runner may return to touch a missed base or one he has left after he has advanced to and touched a base beyond the missed base.
Rule 7.10(b) Comment: PLAY. (a) Batter hits ball out of park or ground rule double and misses first base (ball is dead)—he may return to first base to correct his mistake before he touches second but if he touches second he may not return to first and if defensive team appeals he is declared out at first.
PLAY. (b) Batter hits ball to shortstop who throws wild into stand (ball is dead)—batter-runner misses first base but is awarded second base on the overthrow. Even though the umpire has awarded the runner second base on the overthrow, the runner must touch first base before he proceeds to second base. These are appeal plays.

Can someone help me or tell me how to relace my glove?

Let's keep this simple...

1. The run counts because he came across the plate before the third out is made.
2. Once the play is ruled dead, everything that happens that play counts, unless overruled by the crew chief, or upon further discussion. (Appeals are done after plays are dead)
3. If the batter was forced out at first base for the third out, even after the runner crosses the plate...only then would the run not have counted.

It's baseball season, the players are ready and so are the fans...?

I would guess that the run would count. The batter would of course be out and the runner from second was tagged out after the first runner scored. I do not believe the runners would go back to their bases in this case. The ball was in play so the other runners should be able to advance at their own risk. Like I said this is a best guess based off many years of playing and watching.

Which team do you see winning the World Series in 2007?

You figured it out on your own.

To make a long story short, the sustained appeal of the batter-runner missing first base is the same as if he never reached first base. Thus, the run cannot scorebecause the third out was by the batter-runner before he reached first base.

Great question though and I have seen it happen.
