Will the Braves raise their payroll? How much do they need to keep winning?
Question:
Answers:
I can't get the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to appear on my scoreboard.?
I actually don't see them needing to raise their payroll much, if at all. They already spend enough to field a good team. What they need to keep on winning is to keep finding talented kids and developing them, through the minor league system, into winners. That's the basis of any long-term dynasty, really; money will only go so far. The Yankees have found that out with a vengeance. That said, if they feel they need to go after the Mets by spending, it can be done. The Mets did it. But the smartest way to approach the market would be cautiously. It's so out of control right now, the investment required for even a mediocre player is intense. I don't think they *need* to spend more to keep on winning, as long as they sign good kids, train them well, and keep good coaches at the major-league level. That team has a history of winning, and I'm confident they'll pull out of last year's fiasco and go on to win more division titles.

It's not a matter of how much money a team spends, but about how well they spend it. That's how the Twins and A's, for example, can stay competitive, while the Orioles haven't been close since '89.Guys? Which one of these ticks you off the most.?
