Does Alex Rodriguez use steroids?
He was remarkable and played in a different era where nearly none of us were alive, so he'll always go underappreciated when that kind of thing happens. Someone like Babe Ruth gets more recognition because of his power from the plate, but Cobb defied the odds with those batting average stats. It's hard to make this kind of statement though, since the game has changed, which makes for a great debate on both sides.I've found a great site for discussing baseball called RootZoo.com. If you ask this question there you'll get some great responses. Check it out, you'll like it.
No only because Babe Ruth was a hell of a pitcher as well as his hitting .
Ty Cobb was a hell of a shortstop but never pitched.
Who is the ugliest player in MLB?
he was the greatest racist of all time in any league...If Ty Cobb was loved instead of being hated for most of his career this wouldn't even be a question.
They guy was great at baseball and that can't be argued. His numbers are astounding.
no Babe Ruth because he could pitch and hit.
No, but it's hard to avoid this alarming statistic:
He won 11 batting titles, including 5 consecutive seasons. (Both MLB Records).
He is also one of two players (The other one is Pete Rose) to have over 4,000 hits.
How big of an impact will Roger Clemens have?
Had Ruth taken better care of himself I would have said him.Ty Cobb's unreal numbers are topps across the board.
I think he is one of those players that could have played in any era! All around great player!
Red Sox Fans!! Boston fans ONLY!?
Ty Cobb was a great hitter probably one of the best ever. But the greatest player is Babe Ruth. Lets compare, batting average Ruth had a .342 career average to Cobb’s .366 advantage Cobb, Stolen Bases Ruth 123 Cobb 892 advantage Cobb, hits Ruth 2873 Cobb 4189 advantage Cobb, RBI Ruth 2217 Cobb 1937 Advantage Ruth, Runs Ruth 2174 Cobb 2246 advantage Cobb, Home Runs Ruth 714 Cobb 117 advantage Ruth, OBP Ruth 474, Cobb 433 advantage Ruth Slugging Percentage Ruth 690, Cobb 512, advantage Ruth, Fielding Percentage Ruth 968 Cobb 961, advantage Ruth. Pitching Wins and Loses Ruth 94 46 with a 671 winning percentage with and ERA of 2.28 Cobb 0 0 .000 winning percentage with an ERA of 3.60 Advantage Ruth. So it looks like Ruth Wins 6 to5Has any MLB player ever hit a home run cycle?
NO WAY !!He was much better than Rose. Pete need 1000 AB more than Cobb to pass him.
In Cobb's era he wasn't the only one with a AB that today would be 40 pts. better anybody Else's. Find me a player that enters the league and immediately is so far Superior to everyone else that his #'s surpass those of entire teams.
That player is Ruth. He, in many seasons had, more HR's than the team total of many clubs. Now that's what I
d consider "distancing yourself from the field"
