All sports are like that, not just baseball. You tune in at 7:00 so you have time to get settled in to see the first pitch at 7:05. Football.you tune in at 1:00 to see the kickoff at 1:04. Well, I can tell you the the Chicago White Sox's home games start at 7:11 because 7-11 is a sponsor. Otherwise, I don't know what team starts at 37 after... Starting a game at 5 or 35 after is pretty normal though - it has to do with the broadcast.This is unique to the White Sox, but they start night games at 7:11 PM because 7/11 pays them to, lol, anything for a buck.
It is to account for the singing of the National Anthem and the presentation of the starting lineups. Its not for money purposes just so the fans watching can get the lineups and stuff before the game actually starts.
