Can I wear another team's jersey to a baseball game that they are not playing in?

Question:My boyfriend and I are going to southern California next week on vacation. We are from Philadelphia. We are seeing the Padres play Washington in SanDiego on April 30th, and the Dodgers play Arizona in L.A. on May 1st. I have a baby blue Philles jersey that I love and I don’t get to wear much and I’d like to wear it in L.A. at the Dodgers game. Is this stupid since the Phillies aren’t even playing? I mean, it’s not like I’ll be wearing an Arizona jersey. I’ve asked a few people here at work, and some say it’s not a big deal, others say that it’s “taboo” and I should not wear a jersey of a team that is not playing. And even though the Phillies suck right now, I’m still proud to be from Philly and don’t care if I look like a tourist. So……my question is….is it okay to wear a jersey of a team that is not even playing in the game? Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks!

It is not a big deal at all. In fact, if you watch some highlights of baseball games, you will see a lot of different teams hats, jerseys, etc. The majority is of the 2 teams playing, but there is a fair amount of other teams' stuff being worn by fans. Heck, last week I wore a football team hat to a game. No one said anything to me. You might get that drunk fool of a fan who gives you some crap for wearing a Phillies jersey, but it is not "taboo."

U should be fine. baseball fans are not as wild as hockey or football. So ur not gonna get chased and beat up for jinxing the home team. Me personally, I would never get caught dead in a phillies jersey...EVER! But then again im a Braves fan lol. But you really have nothing to worry about Ive been to numerous philly games and have seen other teams jerseys. So relax, wear the jersey, and most importantly have fun lol.

If batting gloves aren't available, could i use golf gloves instead for batting?

In this situation it doesn't matter at all. I wouldn't wear a Sox jersey at Yankee stadium regardless of the oponent. As long as the teams in question aren't big rivals you can wear it and its not a big deal at all.
