Pitching ERA?
Question:If a runner makes it to home plate on an infielder error, does it affect the pitchers era??

Will the brewers win the NL central?
No, it wouldn't. Any runs that score as a direct result of an error are unearned. It would also be an unearned run if an earlier error extended the inning. (ex: if an outfielder drops a fly ball for an error, and then two outs are recorded, any runs that score after that point are unearned, as the inning should be over. Thus, even home runs can be unearned runs.) Even if it was the pitcher himself who made the error, it still won't effect his ERA, as that stat is a determination of his pitching prowess, not his fielding.Best outfielder in the Major Leagues?
No, it doesn't. Earned runs are only counted on normal plays (runs that don't occur based on errors or passed balls). Is the Yankees vs. Red Sox game still on for tonight?

nopeSo what ever happened to Curt Schillings bloody sock.?
no. any run scored by an error is counted as a run but not an earned run because the pitcher did not earn the run, the player who committed the error earned the run. The only time this will count against his ERA is if the pitcher caused the error, thus earning the run.It depends on the situation. After the inning is complete, if the official scorekeeper decides the runner would've scored even without the error, then it counts as an earned run.
Example: runner on third with 1 out, batter hits a grounder to shortstop, runner on third doesn't go, shortstop makes a throwing error allowing the batter to safely reach first and the runner to advance to home. If the shortstop made a clean play then there should've been runner on third with 2 outs for the next batter. If the next batter then strokes a base hit, the run scored on the previous error would be considered an earned run because he would've scored with or without the error.
No that's an unearned run.
