Question about saves?
Question:Ok in the Giants/Cardinals game today the Giants won the game 6-2 (only the top of the inning was played because they were playing in SF) anyway Brad Hennasy got the save after pitching 1 2/3 innings. I thought a pitcher was only credited for a save if their team was leading by 3 or less.
Can someone please explain?

Maybe this will clear it up for you:Save opportunities. When a pitcher 1) enters the game with a lead of three or fewer runs and pitches at least one inning, 2) enters the game with the potential tying run on base, at bat, or on deck, or 3) pitches three or more innings with a lead and is credited with a save by the official scorer

if the tying run is on deck its a saveWho sings the song after the Oakland A's hit a homerun? I think it's called Celebration time?
Tying run is either at bat or on deckwhen he came in in the top of the 8th its waz a 3 run ball game but in the bottom of the eighth they added a run so its still a save

When Hennessy came in during the 8th inning, the Giants were ahead by only 3. Pitchers can also earn a save for pitching 3 or more innings to finish a game.Who has the highest ceiling and eventual major league production?
There was a lead of only 3 runs when he came into the game in the top of the 8th inning; the Giants didn't score their 6th run until the bottom of the inning. The save is based on the score when he entered the game, not the final score.he must have entered when their was a save oppurtunity
