The Detroit Tigers Beat the Chicago Cubs in seven games. The Cubs open up with a 9-0 run-over. But Detroit ties it 4-1 in game two. Cubbies shut them out 3-0 behind the one-hit pitching of Claude Passeau for game three only to have the Tigers tie it in game four. Detroit took a 3-games to 2 lead in game five.
The 6th game went 12-innings as the Cubs tie up the Series with an 8-7 squeaker. In game seven Detroit jumped off to a 5-0 first-inning and rode it out to a 9-3 victory... Hal Newhouser going the distance for the Tigers.
Only three homeruns were hit. Future Hall-of-Famer Hammerin' Hank Greenberg hit two for Detroit and Phil Cavarretta knocked one for the Cubs. Thanks for the memory.
