What current MLB layers do you think take steroids ?
Any team that pays a single player over $100 million contract is pretty offensive to me!Got any good stories about b.j. surhoff?
i agree with you except for the second base, catcher, shortstop, and 3rd. catcher is johnny bench 2nd base is Rogers Hornsbey., and short is ozzie smith and 3rd is brooks robinson. When was the last time the cubs won 8 games in a row?
Kent and Ripken? no wayRipken for longevity, sure, but a .276 batting average can be bested by many. Ernie Banks had similar BA and OBP to Ripken, but over 500 HRs. How about A-Rod at SS? 6 straight years of 40 HRs, including two over 50!
Joe Morgan is a great answer for 2nd, and I'd somehow have to squeeze Ted Williams in there. A .482 lifetime OBP and he missed at least 4 years in his prime to 2 wars! If he doesn't take Bonds' place on this list, than he would probably be a DH today since his fielding wasn't great.
Could someone explain to me the numbers and letters with baseball?
Your Outfield is solid... Ruth and Mays and Bonds are tough to argue with. I'd like to get Aaron in there somewhere (hit 302, 755, 2297 RBI's etc) which has to be in there somewhere but he played both LF, RF, 2B, and 1B so I can't figure out where to stick him in the line up.Shortstop: But I 'd argue with A-Rod vs. Ripkin. While Ripkin played a long time with very good numbers. But A Rod is the best Offensive SS of all time. Check the numbers: ARod .306 BA, 481 HR,1388 RBI's, 244 SB's vs. Ripkin .276, 431, 1695, 36. And ARod has 6-8 years left to really distance himself. I'd rather have Ripkin in my locker room though.
Secondbase: Hornsby is MUCH better then Kent. BA 358 VS. Kent BA 289... Kent has slightly better power numbers but when compared to their "same generation" players Hornsby still gets the edge. He hit .424 in a single season!
DH: Tough because Thomas has only been a DH for the last few years... Harold Baines or Edgar Martinez were full time DH's for most of their careers and Hank Aaron or Reggie Jackson played DH more then Thomas so I'd probably go with Aaron here if playing that position MOST of your career is not a requirement...
Those are the only 3 I would argue... Great Debate...
