Who should be baseballs next commissioner?

Question:I heard Bud Selig nominate Goerge W. Bush. I don't think that would be the wises choice from one bad leader to another.

How is a pitcher's ERA computed?

Reva P beat me to the punch. George Will would be, by far, the best choice to run baseball. I don't know of anyone who knows and more importantly understands the game better than he. He has a remarkable perspective on the game. The down side to all of this is that the owners would want complete control as they have now with Selig. George Will is a man of integrity so I'm afraid most team owners would not go along with George Will's appointment. Frankly Will may be baseball's only hope.

George Bush is a good leader and I think he knows what he's doing...what are you talking about?
I don't know if he'd make a good commisioner or not, but he's a good president!

Who is the best SS in NL East?

George Will would be an excellent choice. He's a major baseball fan, who has written some very, very good books on the subject. He's also a serious reporter/investigator, who is more than familiar with the political scene all around, and would therefore also be a good liaison between the two.

This was one of his comments from the 3rd inning of Ken Burn's Baseball:

"Baseball suits the character of this democratic nation. Democracy is government by persuasion. That means it requires patience. That means it involves a lot of compromise. Democracy is the slow politics of the half-loaf. Baseball is the game of the long season, where small inconsequential differences decide who wins and who loses particular games, series, seasons. In baseball, you know going to the ballpark that the chances are you may win but you also may lose. There’s no certainty, no given. You know from the season stats that the best team is going to get beaten a third of the time, the worst team is going to win a third of the time. The argument, over 162 is that middle third. So it’s a given that you can’t like if winning is everything, but democracy is that way, too."

However, the owner and likely will do much, much worse than choosing Will.

Cal Ripken Jr.

Has Barry Bonds publicly admitted to taking steroids or performance-enhancing drugs?

Andy MacPhail would be an excellent choice. He has experience with small market teams (Minnesota) and large market teams (the Cubs). He has respect for the game and comes from a family who has long been involved in the game. He also seems to be a consensus builder, in the mode of Selig, and I think his intents would be good. The owners would not be threatened by him. I think he would do well.

I am obsessed wit the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry. how do i stop?

Joe Morgan

Are there any Royals fans out there?

I always thought Bob Costas would be a great commish. His sports knowledge is second to none, plus he's a big baseball fan.
