What team or teams in your opinion have been the biggest disappointment in the past five years? And why?

Question:I'm interested in different points of views.

Answers:

Japanese baseball and players.?

This may sound odd because they've been a winning team, but it has to be the Yankees. They have a lineup of all stars and shoulders and above the highest payroll in baseball. And still no world series victory in 5 years? Thats a little crazy if you ask me

Can you sprain/break your wrist by hitting a softball?

Phillies this year, and Nationals last year. In 2005 the Nationals ended the season with a 81-81 (.500) record. Very promising team until 2006.

Jimmy Rollins said that the Phillies were the team to beat in the NL east. Now they are dead last, and the Mets (which Rollins claimed the Phils could beat) are in 1st.

How many years, before she died, did Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrova spend in Canada?

The Michigan wolverines because they have went to 2 roses bowls to come up short twice a good football team but they just cannot close the door at the end have a great day.

Will Randy Johnson be ever be the "dominating" pitcher he used to be?

From strictly a win/loss basis, I would look at Baltimore. They stacked a team, did very well one year then faded and haven't been able to get on track since. Despite having a pretty good offense in previous years.

For the stability of a franchise, definitely Montreal/Washington.

Montreal had one of the BEST farm systems in the 90's, but simply couldn't keep their guys.
They drafted Randy Johnson (traded for Mark Langston), Marquis Grissom, Delino Deshields, Larry Walker.
They traded for Pedro Martinez and got him to a Cy Young winner, then he bolted.
I think if you took the best players of a decade, they would be the team of the 90's.

From a Fan's perspective and what not to do, I would suggest it's Florida. The way they can simply go for it, win the WS and when the fans get excited, they piece out the winner and die. That's not fair.

Nolan ryan or randy johnson?

I agree, the Yankee's are one. When you have a team like that and continue to increase your payroll just to get knocked out in round one of the playoffs.that hurts. But I think the number one is the Cubs. I mean, they have alot of talent and they just seem to give 50%. They show no motivation or commitment on the field. They put to much on Prior and Wood to be the "Saviors" of the team. I think fans are tired of waiting till next year.

Can Mariano Rivera's number be retired?

The Cubs of 2004. They had everything there for them after blowing the NL pennant the year before - and choked it up the last week of the season.
They should have won. They had the talent. They had the lead. Then they disappointed their fans by playing with a who cares attitude the last week.

Why are the Red Sox wearing their St Paddy's day green shirts today?

I say Cleveland. I am an Indians fan and every year we hear about how they have great young talent, but they keep falling short of the postseason. Hey Indians, it is time to take that step!

What exactly is a pine tar? is it allowed at all?if yes, are there limitations? why? pine tar on pitchers glov

THE ROYALS

What is derek jeters plate music for this season (2007) I know one of them is go getter, what r the others?

No matter how big the Yankees payroll is the players still have to perform well when it counts. So spare me this payroll bullsh!t. It's the same old story from people with no depth of baseball.

Jeter, Posada, Rivera, Williams are the only Yankees with 4 rings and they "ALL" came up through the Yankee farm system. Jeter, Posada, and Rivera have been in the top 5 of their position since longer than I can remember and are getting paid like it.

I see that people only whine when the Yankees sign certain players. I don't remember any fuss over guys like Cairo, Sojo, and Vizciano who have rings. But they sign Giambi, and Abreu who don't have rings and it's the end of the world. Why the double standard?

Half of you don't have the slightest clue about who the Yankees are nor why you think you hate them.

The answer to your question is the Atlanta Braves.

I thought the Baltimore Oriole fans were going to have Peter Angelos removed as owner - what happened?

I would have to say the Atlanta Braves.
2002 - 101 wins 1st place
2003 - 101 wins 1st place
2004 - 96 wins 1st place
2005 - 90 wins 1st place
2006 - 79 wins 3rd place
Not 1 world series appearance out of that.

Ty Cobb-greatest player of all time in any league.?

Pirates. I love my Buccos dearly, but the organization (on the MLB level) is just horrible top to bottom. Tracy has taken players who excelled at every other level and insisted on changing their playing style for some reason, and been rewarded with weaker performance. The GM and ownership group remind me of the Arizona Cardinals. AZ figured out a long time ago that you can make good money for yourself without putting a real contender on the field, and I think the Pirates are doing the same. We've been rebuilding for so long now that the players we started rebuilding with have washed up with other teams. In a few years it is going to happen again. The players have so much potential that it hurts to see bad management and ownership dwindle it. The Pirates have enough speed to contend, and what they may lack in speed from some players they make up for in smart baserunning from others (see Jason Bay). Between Laroche, Paulino, Doumit, Eldred, Castillo, Nady and Bay they have enough power potential. They have above average fielders at most positions too. Young pitchers will have their struggles, but there is no reason they couldn't get something more out of Oliver Perez before they lost him. So far Snell and Gorz are doing well, but it just feels like it's only a matter of time before Tracy's stupid pitching coach (I can't bear to say his name even) decides to tinker with a good think and gets his stink all over them and they start performing like some of our other highly talented young pitchers.
You might not think the Pirates fit the question initially posed, simply b/c they've been so bad for so long, but in a city that loves its sports and has a proud tradition of championship teams, it is heartbreaking to be constantly lied to by a front office that expects us to believe that they really want to win when they trade away our top players so freely. You can only call losing "rebuilding" for so long before it sounds hollow.

Whats the best trade in history ?

The Braves hands down! They seem to have mastered their division but that's as far it goes after that.

How do they pick the all-star game location in baseball??

The Braves could go 162-0 and win their 5,000th division title and still find a way to lose in the first round of the playoffs.

Four teams baseball needs to make the playoffs to have a lot of fan and media interest?

That's a tough call. Perhaps the Yankees, because their expectation is to win the World Series each year and they haven't done it in that time frame.

Up until last year, you probably could've said the Mets. Each year, they seemed to spend a ton of money on free agents and make a lot of trades for big-name players but things never seemed to materialize on the field for them.

The A's and Braves have a lot of great regular seasons, but have always seemed to come up short in the playoffs. Up until last year, the same could be said of the Cardinals. Ironically, they won the World Series after a very mediocre regular season.

The Phillies (my favorite team, by the way) have knocked on the door quite a few times, but haven't been able to make that push to the postseason. The Orioles have often had big payrolls, but always seem to be stuck in neutral. The Cubs have had a few disappointing seasons since nearly making the World Series in 2003.

Should George Steinbrenner fire Joe Torre now?

Are you kidding? The Braves easily.

Tim Lincecum?

For all you retards and your long winded babble about the Yankees. The Yankee who unlike the Braves have actually gone to a world series in the past five years.

The Braves are by far the biggest disappointment in baseball the past 5 years.

How does position balance in my roster affect my scoring? Should I have more hitters than pitchers?

The Royals absoultely broke my heart 4 years ago. After a 100 loss season, they started off amazingly hot and were only 2 games out of first at the All-Star break. Then they just absolutely fell apart in August and September and finished over 20 games out of first place and haven't won more than 62 games in a season since.
