Picking up Joel Zumaya?
Question:Zumaya is in the free agency in my fantasy league i know he closed out a game last week. Is his spot in the closer role permanent now or will Wickman stil have it. Is it worth dropping someone form my bench to take him?

For one, Wickman is on the Braves, Zumaya is on the Tigers.Todd Jones is still listed as the closer with Zumaya as his setup man.
If you own Jones, then pick up Zumaya as insurance. Otherwise wait it out...

todd jones is the closer for the tigers at this time.In the future they plan on using zumaya as the closer when jones retires.I have him on one of my rosters,if you are looking for a reliever for strikeouts per inning he does very well,but will only pitch 1 or 2 innings at most. The tigers starting pitching has been very good this year and the offense is strong. If you can't find a pitcher with any saves then take him incase jones get's injured.In that case he will do well.

Zumaya will help lower your team's ERA and help raise your team's SO's. Plus, if your league keeps track of holds, you should definitely pick up Zumaya. first of all, its todd jones closing for the tiges. regardless, GET Z-MAN! even if he doesnt take over closer role, (which i think he will), he will contribute, k's, era, whip, 2, 3, times a week. (and a save ever now and then) middle/set-up men are undervalued in typical 5X5 fantasy formats. i would add him and also suggest you see if scott shields is available.Can an American league pitcher bat if he wants to?
Zumaya will not be a closer this year unless Todd Jones gets injured. I have him on my fantasy team, but he's really only good for WHIP,K's, and ERA. Base your decision on what stats you need. Expect only around 5 saves for the whole season because Rodney and Mesa will also steal some opportunities away after Jones pitches two straight days.More Questions & Answers...
