Why do some divisions in the MLB have more teams in them?
Question:One division has 6 teams, one has 4, and the rest have 5. This seems really unfair. Does anyone know why Major League Baseball does this?

When MLB went to the wild card and three divisions some changes had to be made. Each league was given three divisions; neither the National (16) nor the American (14) had the number of teams that was divisible by three divisions. If each league did have 15 teams this would mean that on every date one of the teams would not be playing. Because the concept of inter-league play was new at that time the leagues were not willing to have constant inter-league play in order to make the 15-team league's scheduling work.
You mentioned that one division (NL Central) has 6 teams and one (AL West) has 4 teams. This was done to lessen the travel for the teams; keep the division in one time zone when possible and to maintain long-standing rivalries.
it's just were the team r in the U.S

There are 30 teams in baseball. If that were split in half there would be 15 teams in each league. Since teams only play within the league (unless interleague play), there would be one team in each league every day that didnt play. So they put an even number of teams in each league. The NL just happened to get the extra team and that is why the AL West has 4 teams and the NL Central has 6 teams. How many verses is the song "take me out to the ballgame" sung in each stadium?
