How do I get All Star game tickets in San Francisco this year?

Well, it depends on your intentions.
With metal, the ball travels farther than it would with a wood bat.
But metal has major vibration! But wood can break!!

So now it's up to you.

How do you close your batting stance?

Not sure, but wood seems to break very often.

Can you give me some advise on throwing a baseball?

Wow, "better" is such a subjective term.

Wood is better from the whole historical and keepin-the-sport-pure side of things. But an aluminum bat allows the ball to spring off the bat. I guarantee you that if you handed an aluminum-style bat to Pujols or A-Rod, you'd see even longer shots leave that bat.

So, short answer as to best would likely be aluminum type bats (unless you are a pitcher!).

Do you think these stats can get me somewhere?

wood, I had no idea though really as I don't play baseball at all.
I just know that in other sports I find wooden ones are easier to hold.
also, when your playing on a sunny day, sometimes the metal ones can reflect the sunlight into your eyes and then you miss the shot.
Anyway, thats my very limited advice, x

Are there any left handed shortstops?

wood ofcourse, metal probrably will be too heavy

Who would you rather have on you team in the prime of their career (Roger Clemens or Pedro Martinez)? Explain?

It depends on the batter and what they are use to. The weight ratios are very different, which is why a batter in college and high school will frequently have a hard time transitioning into the majors. Wooden bats have a standard wieght to length ratio, but metal bats can change. For youth leagues you can have all the way down to -11 bats which means that the bat weighs 11 ounces less then the inches it is long. (example, 29 inches long, 18 ounces). In high school the regulation is drop 3 (-3). (example 32 inch length, 29 ounces)

A metal bat will hit farther, especially when hit in the "sweet" spot, but will eventually the bat will go dead, or lose its "pop". A wooden batter will normally have a larger sweet spot, but for younger or less experienced players could be too heavy or miss balanced. Regulation bats for little league, high school, and college ball are all metal. Major and minor leages reguire wooden. In the end, the simple answer to your question is, there is none. No bat can be called the perfect bat, it all depends on the batter.

Why is A-Rod wearing the old school high socks?

its close. With wood bats if you dont hit the ball perfectly it aint goin no where, plus they are liable to break.

with metal, if you hit it wrong, you will have a major stinger, especially if the pitch was fast and the temperature is below 45 F (from personal experience. I was nearly ejected because i swore so badly)

Im going with metal: they last longer and you are more likely to get a decent hit with the ball. with wood, you can hit it farther, but not consistently

Is it correct to say taht Ron Guidry had the best Single Season by any pitcher ever?

Any tips on Autographs at a Cubs Game?

Metal is much better why do you think Little Leaguers use it and not wood because if Little Leaguers used wood they would stink and metal is much better.

Who is number 172 on the MLB all time games played list?

It depends on whether you play minor or major league, in the minors they use metal as they are lighter and easier to swing, so aiding the development of up and coming players. In the majors the players use wood as they are heavier and you would not get the vibrations of the metal going up the batters arms as the swing is much stronger with the majors.

To what extent is Politics involved in Sports?

Best thing to do is just give up on the game, get a willow wood cricket bat and play cricket instead. All bats are made out of willow, nothing to stress you out and worry about. Sport is for fun, pleasure and relaxation. As soon as you have to start worrying about wood or metal tools, it's time to move on to something less stressful

If Julio Franco plays until he's 55 and gets 3,000 hits do you think he'll make the hall?

I like wood bats! You can really hurt someone with a metal bat as the ball travels faster!

Best year by a pitcher in history?

How do you tell a counterfeit Red Sox ticket from a real one?

salu215 gave a pretty comprehensive answer above so rather than repeating that I'll say that personally I much prefer wooden bats, not least because of the annoying noise you get from every hit when watching a college game. That's not the only reason I'd prefer to see wooden bats coming in at college and high school level though - some players become better hitters as a result of the metal bats than they can go on to be in the pro game, while others do less well. I'd rather see those discrepancies ironed out.
