they arent oblivious to the facts, and while i completely agree that bruce bowen is a cheap-shot player, that the spurs are a cheap-shot team, and that diaw and stoudemire shoudnt have been suspended, you cant blame fans for sticking by their team. Duncan, like most of the Spurs, were already standing up cheering for that dunk. Just like last night when Bowen make that late 3, everyone was jumping up and down. 3 Spurs players even crossed the line. So Duncan stood up and cheered. He did take 2 or 3 steps forward, and Bowen did pull him back. If any Spurs were to be suspended, it should have been Duncan. However, there was no altercation. So why should Duncan be suspended? No one were getting into each others faces. That's how the Spurs are, when they get hard fouled, they only complain to the refs not the opponents.

Bruce Bowen is one of the best defenders if not the best in the league. He keeps his body on whoever he is defending. So if you're not careful enough, you might step on his foot. Raja Bell clotheslined Kobe, who did Bruce clotheslined? So stop being a retarded Suns fan. You're like my sister. Obvious fact #1:

When Duncan and Bown left the bench, there was no altercation. The rules plainly state that if you leave the bench during an ALTERCATION(like Stoudmire and Diop), its an automatic suspension. They aren't the 1st team to get screwed by this rule. Look at the Knicks fiasco of '97.

Ewing stepped onto the court and was observing the brawl going on from ACROSS THE COURT, yet he got hit with a suspension even though he didn't get involved. His team was down 3-1 in the playoffs, and most of the starters INCLUDING Ewing got suspended. Guess what happened, the Knicks got bounced, life went on and nobody cried about it.

Obvious fact#2:

Bowen is old school. I think what frustrates players is that Bowen never gets caught because he hides it well. All the players you mentioned above are either abismal defenders or get caught whenever they initiate contact. Watch Karl Malone in the paint, he hacked and mugged people under there, but he did it with such finesse that he rarely got whistled. The new NBA rules are total BS. How are you supposed to guard someone if your not allowed to touch them? Hell, even the WNBA allows more contact! All of the best defenders are also very physical(Camby, Bowen, Karl Malone, Shaq). These guys are excellent at being physical without setting off the radar. Kobe is getting there, but he needs to work on hiding it better.

Its a fact that modern NBA stars play horrible "D". Can't blame them, its the standard set by the modern NBA. They are more interested in running up points than fundamentals. I say bring back the hand-check. Let a contact sport be a contact sport, then there are no excuses.
