Explain this pattern in the NBA...We all remember the Champions of the past, Bulls, Celtics, Lakers, Pistons?
Question:Is there something to the idea that if a team won a championship under a certain identity that previous identity establishes the blueprint for further success in the franchises history...for example
The Lakers of the 80's won championships on the strength of a true playmaking guard who exhibited great showmanship and the ability to take over games (Magic Johnson)...couple that with the dominant imposing force in the middle .(Kareem Abdul-Jabbar),...well when the Lakers got back on track with their titles from 2000-2003 they again had a true playmaking guard who exhibited great showmanship and the ability to take over games (Kobe Bryant),and another dominant imposing force in the Middle(Shaquilled O'Neal)
When the Detroit Pistons won in 1989 and 1990 they used a stifling defense and solid guard play from Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars, the 2004 Pistons won wih stifling defense and solid guard play from Rip Hamilton and Chauncey Billups. Is there a blueprint to each franchises success?
Answers:
When is michael Jordan able to go in hall of fame?
I read "Championship BluePrint" which chronicles the franchise history of the Detroit Pistons...(good book) and there is actually something made to that theory especially in Detroit...its like fans identify with certain teams, especially if the team reflects what the city is about.Detroit is a blue collar, hard working city and that identity is seen in its team, which when it is seen on the court the fans are more than proud because we feel a more of a connectioin to our players.so to answer your question yes.More Questions & Answers...
