why do most people wanted him to win MVP? he has a lot of assists but anyone (even kobe) can do that if they have great shooters to make the shots.

man kobe sucks at passing nash is kingthat's not true. he's a playmaker. he doesn't only dish out assists, he's only a scorer. he's just like kobe. they both have killer instincts and don't back down. against the spurs nash's nose was so bloody and wouldn't stop bleeding. he kept wanting to go onto the court. if it wasn't for nash the suns wouldn't be as good. as soon as nash had to leave the game the suns crumbled. they couldn't do anything without nash running the show. that's why he should have been mvp and not dirk.

Because without Nash, Phoenix may not even be a playoff team. He is hands down the best distributor in the league, and he's a much better scorer than people give him credit for. Remember the time in the playoffs when Dallas decided to defend everyone else and make Nash beat them? This would only be true if basketball didn't involve any defense... but it does. In the modern pro game, no matter how good a shooter is, he can't make many shots unless he has a play run for him and is at least somewhat open. The point guard's job is to open things up for the shooter.Just to give an example, look at Joe Johnson's career before Nash joined the Suns, then look at how his stats jumped when Nash joined in 2004-05. The Suns' offense allowed him to get open looks and gain confidence as a shooter. This is a guy who used to score six points a game, but this past year was number 9 in the league in scoring. Nash basically created Johnson's career. Note the five-point jump for Amare Stoudemire in 04-05 as well.

None of Nash's teammates were known as "great shooters" before they met Nash. If you watch a phoenix game, it's not just the assist the Nash brings. He controls the tempo and consistently create open shots for teammates resulting in high percentage shots. No other teams can have that many open shots than Phoenix. Plus, he himself is the best shooter in the league. The MVP race has long been cut down to the race of Dirk and Nash, and look who's leading his team through the playoffs right now?Who do you think will win the NBA title?
You need to learn the game of basketball. Kobe Bryant can't pass, won't pass. He had Shaq, Karl Malone, and Gary Payton, (three guys that could score quite easily), and couldn't do anything with them. Steve Nash plays the way a point guard is supposed to play.
