You do have a point. He doesn't really defend well and players able to can score on him at will. I've seen some Nuggets games on TNT and he doesn't really hustle or rotate to his teammate's man on defense. I doubt he focuses on defense and probably is only concerned with scoring.
Btw, Kobe has made the NBA All Defense Team serveral times for the fools who are unaware.

Carmelo has no D, he is not the worst, but dam he is a runner up. Even Vladic Divac had better D than him. Maybe Vladic can teach him to at least flop or something. He is good at putting up 20 points and selling shoes. He uses all his energy on scoring and smiling for the cameras, but they should zoom in on his face when opposing team bench players score on him at will.Im calling this one..Stan Van Gundy will coach the Magic next season!?

Melo is a very good player whose offense improve a lot over the years, better clutch player and shooter than LBJ. But Melo needs to work defense. Melo is the worst defensive player in the league, he is way better than many other players. He needs more work on defensive though. if coach Karl wants a championship, he needs to have Melo and company work on defense. even if they want to have run and gun game like phoenix. in the finals, defense is a key factor, especially down on clutch.What with the Kobe hating here? Calling him "worst"! There's a lot those whom can't even defend. He is good defensive player making all-defensive team many times. He need to work on it if he ever want to be defensive player of the year, or come up to the same level as MJ. Kobe also needs teammates to take off some of the load on the offensive in order to concerntrate on defense.
As for the Shaq, man you guy really think Shaq is ever gonna win another champion, he no the dominate guy we knew. After couple of more season, the man is not gonna be much threats. No disrespect though, he is one of the best centers ever to play the game. His body is not gonna carry him through all the running, posting, box, and the punishment "hack a Shaq". Ppl should stop wining about Shaq and Kobe, get over it. Obviously Shaq and Kobe weren't getting along at the time. As the Lakers point of view, sticking wi KB was a better long-term investment. They would be able to be the same dynamic duo of the dynasty. What Kobe needs is better teammates or greatly improved Bynum and Walton. Lamar is great.
