The height and speed of the jump because you need to go fast to get high.
Are the Lakers going to get anyone to help Kobe this off season?
The strength. Most people, if they were hanging in mid air, could move their legs in a jump motion fast enough to jump very, very high. Not everybody can put the 500 pounds or so of force it takes for a 48 inch vertical. To jump higher, most people need to get stronger, not faster.
Power is most important since it's a combination of strength and speed.
What are the top non-major basketball schools of all time?
In my opinion, the speed of the jump is most important. Dunking is not always possible, and being able to get in the air quickly gives you more options for how to respond to a defender. It also is a great way to handle almost all of the major shot blockers in the league, as they all leave the ground slowly.Strength. You gain the ability to dunk by conditioning your legs, not by mastering your 100-yard dash.
Steve Kerr had speed, and he didn't dunk. Doug Christie could dunk from a flat-footed stance right under the basket, and he was never the fastest runner.
How can i get better at basketball?
its a combination of those things. that equate explosive power. simple Physics.Blogbaba's going out on a limb, the Pistons will be the NBA champs. If not Detroit, who?
Well obviously both are important but I think the strength of the jump. I'm guessing when players jump they're all going to be around the same speed right? Nobody's going to slow-mo themselves to jump slow... so if you want to dunk, train the strength of your legs.depends on what position you play.
