Question:Just like Paris Hilton, I keep hearing people making all sorts of excuses for Kobe. I remember distinctly how NO ONE had to defend Michael Jordan or Dominique Wilkins when they were struggling to reach the next level.
All I have seen from Le Bron James since DAY ONE are RESULTS! I can pay him no bigger compliment than to say his number compare favorably with Grant Hill (when he was in Detroit).
All you could say about those 3 guys is "Wow, did you see that!?!?"
Why do Kobe fans feel the need to defend him? His work should speak for him, shouldn't it?

No. However, Kobe is the A-Rod of baseball, albeit with a killer instinct. Both Kobe and A-Rod are divas, tolerated primarily because of their rare talent. They are both beloved by the press, but not so much by their fans or, most importantly, the other guys in the clubhouse.The difference with A-Rod is that A-Rod was in no position to run off Derek Jeter or the other leaders in that clubhouse. By contrast, Kobe did run off Shaq, to the point that he got what he wanted - a team where he is the unquestioned star, where he can put up whatever numbers he wants.

As a very Anti-Bryant fan, I think its clear that his fans follow him because the water in LA is so horribly poisoned, that they think he IS MJ.Kobe Bryant has sparks of skill, but is NOT the leader you see when you look at those other three names. Being stopped by the "kid ive never heard of" (Raja Bell) twice now in the playoffs, Kobe has shown that his scoring abilities are not enough to lead a team. This years disastorous first round should be a wakeup call to all LA fans, that it is time for Odom, or a new player to take over leadership on that team.
In Kobes defense, i will say, there is no other player in the league that can arouse the kind of hatred from opposing teams fans, and still make clutch game winning shots. When you see sold out stadiums screaming "Kobe sucks" at the top of their lungs, and then bryant hitting the game winning three. there is nothing more heartbreaking.
