Since you can see Bruce Bowen's wretchedly dirty plays on You-tube repeatedly, why do people still deny it?
You Tube has video that shows him kicking Stoudamire and sliding his foot under Steven Francis and another New York shooter. I don't there is video of him sliding his foot under Vince Carter which really messed up Carter's ankle and caused him to miss games.

No doubt. Bowen does play good defense but he also does a lot of cheap stuff and gets away with it. I supposse all great defenders in the NBA have done these sorts of things. He's been accussed of elbows during dead balls, he kicks people, etc. Rodman used to beat the crap out of people - the game is definately physical (though maybe not as much as of old).However, his habit of sliding his right foot forward into shooters, whether it's meant to be intentionally to hurt someone or to mentally intimidate them - or not intentional at all and just a habit, needs to be eliminated from his game by the league. It has caused injury to several great players already and is sure to cause more if he keeps doing it. If they are going to fine and suspend Kobe Bryant for flailing his arms out and elbowing someone while shooting they simply must follow suit and show Bowen that his limbs can violate the space of another player and could cause serious injury and this includes his foot.
Now, I think that anytime any shooter that's already established space comes down on that right foot of his it should be a fine and a suspension just like they did on Bryant. Surely an elbow to the face is just as potentially career-ending as coming down straight on Bowen's sneaky right foot.
Anything less would be NBA haterism.

Bruce Bowen, Raja Bell and even Shane Battier...they're three of the best defenders on three of the best teams...and they're all either shooting guards or small forwards...that's why they get so much scrutiny...they don't have the size that Camby or Duncan or Ben Wallace have. Those big guys don't get called for steals as much as blocks, why? because they're all centers, or POWER forwards! Bruce Bowen is reliable, because other players are scared to be defended by him, not because of injury (that comes with all professional competitive sports), but because he's an expert defensive stop. Look at Rodman, he went the other way, he'd always be taking charges and s**t from guys like Malone. They called him dirty. What was his position? Small forward. Bowen's not dirty, some of his plays are most definitely questionable, but look at his record.

Those perimeter defender always does that "little things", but no denying that Bruce Bowen had made a statement with his dirty plays. Sending a subliminal message to Superstar he had to guard."If you dare to score on me, something bad will happen to your ankle".
I really can't believe that I used to respect and play my defense like this guy.
The whole "stick the foot" thing started like 2 or 3 seasons ago where age has finally caught up with him.
The whole Spur team is a respectable class act, I dunno why Popovich don't do something about Bowen defensive tactics.
They are denying it because they are blind...he's shouldn't be on the defensive team because he plays dirty.....

you got to admit Bowen is a very good defender. he does play dirty though. if you were a mutli million dollar man would you want someone to end your carrer early by dirty plays.im not saying he's trying to end someone carrer early by doing what he does, but when is the league going to step in and tell him something about it. maybe after he actually hurts someone.
mostly all the plays where they have questioned him are with the plays almost over. there is no need for him to go stand right underneath the player so he can roll his ankles.
after tonight and the knee to the thigh/groin region to Nash i lost alot of respect for bowen and the spurs.
they seem to wine and complain about calls when they get hacked and no calls are made but when they hack and the calls are made they act like they did nothing wrong, especially Bowen, Duncan and Ginobili and i live in San Antonio.
if the league allows him to do it why not continue to play the way bowen is playing ?

Thats playoff pressure!he is a dirty player... first he tried to take out amare... then today he tried to take out nash... and this is just in the last 2 games... i think the nba should evaluate what he is doing, cuz if they dont, when someone gets seriously injured and is out fr the rest of a season, or this post season, whats gonna happen? especially since he normally gaurds the main offense threats... how would people feel if carmelo, wade, lebron, iverson, tmac or nash were taken out?
