I like him even though he gives Rip Hamilton a really hard time everytime the Pistons play the Spurs. I think the knee to Nash was an accident. But I know that he is not the type of player other players try to say he is. He would never try to intentionally try to injure anyone. He's just a physical player who gives his opponents problems. I respect the type defender he is. He's a tough good player and he gets virtually know credit for being that good.

Bruce Bowen is a hard, tough, in-your-face type of player who knows all the tricks of the trade. He uses his elbows skillfully where the refs cannot see, he hand checks more than any other defensive player, and he's quick enough to establish good position. If his guy gets past him, Bowen is usually right behind him for an extra shove/push/elbow as the shot is being released. If his opponent is a jump shooter, Bowen will "casually" or "accidentally" have his feet under the player when he lands. Too many players have been injured while in contact with Bowen for it to be a coincidence.He's a chippy borderline dirty player. Kobe Bryant and Bowen have great battles, but for some reason, Kobe has respect for Bowen as a player (even though they get into it from time to time). Bowen needs a little elbow or shot to the ribs from Nash's teammate every once in a while, just to back him off a bit. And the Suns aren't willing to do that - at least not yet.

he's a scumbag. beyond his dirty moves, he is an incredible defender. he would still be a premier defender if he didn't try so many dirty tactics.but unless you're a Spurs fan, you generally hate him because he does everything he can possibly do without trying to get caught.

How is crap, like bruce bowen's dirty cheap shots, glorified by calling him an outstanding defensive player. This guy is pathetic, he needs to be suspended for all the stuff he tries to pull, but that won't happen until one of his meathead plays ends up seriously injuring another player. The NBA should follow the example of the NHL, with the Martin Havlat incident where he has tried to kick players with his skate and gotten suspended both times. Cowardly untalented players like Bowen need a few suspensions to get through his thick skull. However, I'm sure his coach praises his performance in the locker room game in and game out. Unbelievable and pathetic as to what some players will do to win.Will kobe have to take over to keep the lakers in the running against the suns//?
