Because there is a double standard in the NBA sometimes. The rule basically says that a player on the bench can't leave the vicinity of the bench during an altercation. There are 2 very vague words here... vicinity and altercation. Both leave a lot of room for interpretation and the imposing of double standards. They say that Stoudemire was 20' away but the rule doesn't state an exact distance. Duncan & Bowen only walked a couple steps. Also, they say that what Duncan & Bowen reacted to wasn't an altercation because the 2 involed just walked away. This is the double standard... they have decided to see it that way for whatever reason. This is not fair and I hope someone is arguing this to the Stern as we speak.Who gonna win NBA championship?

There have to be a reasonable suspicion of violent act.Yea I remember that play. There was never really a fight on either of these plays. That's why David Stern is a moron. Because they were on thier side of the court, there was no confrontation, they had just got out of their seat and hadnt walked 20 feet, like the Suns did, and the REF BLEW HIS WHISTLE, which meant it couldve been a timeout, and he was telling the player to throw the ball in, which makes it legal.

Good question, Im pissed off now because this will cost the Suns a game.
