Can the Suns legally boycott the game over the horrible ruling by David Stern?
If you think about this question long and hard it seems a reasonable approach and something I would propose if I ever the general manager of the Suns. It would be a statement against the absurd decision that was made by David Stern and it would cost the NBA tens of millions of dollars in television promotions for game 5. Even if this means that they lose the game, a statement must be made, and by doing this the Spurs victory will be forever discredited by any "normal" basketball fan. This is the only reasonable approach and something I would support if I were the Phoenix Suns. There has to come a time when a game is judged purely on the game and not on one mans prejudiced opinion. What do you think?

I doubt that will ever happen, but I do agree with you. I can't stand David Stern and he makes some horrible decisions. This one is a great example of that. Did this dumba$$ even play sports in his life? After doing a google search I was correct. He hasn't played a lick of basketball. He also made the great decision to listen to Mark Cuban and switch balls at the beginning of the season.why?? No one knows...and there was nothing wrong with the previous ball. Then he makes the players dress a certain way. Why?? Why can't these grown men dress however the fk they want? I personally don't like the "hip-hop" dress (Allen Iverson called it this at a press conference) but I think they should be able to wear whatever they want. If I were the Suns I would boycott the game and take the DQ instead of getting owned by San Antonio at home w/o Amare. I thought it was a fair call; the Suns are a group of whiners. David Stern needs to be suspended. He's a frickin jackass that has consistantly made HORRIBLE calls.Now here is Duncan & Bowen going onto the floor in the second quarter of game 4, yet I see no suspension for them? TOTAL BS

I suppose the Suns could boycott, but that wouldn't be to their advantage. Stern would just carry over the suspensions to game 6. Plus, the series is tied. There is plenty of ball to be played, and the Suns can certainly win game 5, without Stoudemire. The Suns would simply be throwing away their 6-plus months of work by boycotting.
Also, you can't seriously think that Stern wants Amare to miss game 5. He is an integral part of the most exciting team, and Stern wants ratings. I'll bet that he'd secretly prefer that the Suns advance to the NBA Finals, as they are more likely than any other remaining team to draw high TV ratings.
No, the punishment doesn't seem to fit the crime. All Amare did was take a few steps, after all. But Stern needs to maintain his precedent, and suspend any bench player that leaves the designated area, during an altercation. I think he made the best of a bad situation by suspending Horry for two games. A flagrant foul would usually not result in a two-game suspension.
