Why does Dirk deserve the MVP more than anyone else?
Dirk, Dirk, Dirk, MVP,MVP,MVP....That's all I hear in the NBA these days and i'm getting sick of it so I ask this...Why does Dirk get the MVP 4 being the best player on the best team of 13 deep when Mr. Big Shot didn't win it last year when he was the best player on the best team of 5 deep and still won 60+games?

Personally, I'm sick of the whole MVP thing. They obviously don't choose the actual MVP. It is based on number of wins. I like to judge MVP based the team's winning percentage without their star player. We all know Dallas can still win without Nowitzki, but we've seen that Phoenix can't win without Nash, Houston can't win without McGrady, and LA can't win without Bryant.How many out there have been glued to the NBA playoff games today?

Between him and Nash I still say Nash deserves it. Dirk is the 1st option on an already powerful team while Nash makes the whole thing work for the suns and without Nash playing they lose to some of the worst teams in the West.Anyone think the Sterns NBA lottery is rigged?

He is a very good player is why. But I think Nash is most valuable to his team. Kobe? What has he done for his team since he became THE MAN ?Having the best record has a lot to do with it. If you're the best player on the team with the best record, that says a lot. He's a great player! How would you argue that he shouldn't be talked about as winning the MVP award? That's just silly. That being said Nash should get it, but you can't NOT at least throw Dirk's name in the conversation...

I absolutely despise Mark Cuban. That being said, I think Dirk deserves MVP. He can shoot from anywhere on the floor, which is rare for a big man. He's a great offensive threat and has been good at getting his hands on the ball defensively. He doesn't. The only reason it was between Dirk and Nash is because their teams have winning records. But even if the Suns didn't have Nash and the Mavericks didn't have Dirk, they would still make the playoff because they both have good teams. But where would the Lakers be without Kobe? They MIGHT have won 20 games this year. But because they have Kobe... they're in the playoffs. To me, thats a valuable player. Between Nowitzki and Nash, I think that Nash deserves it. Although Dirk has increased his stats significantly, Nash is still the same team players with nice threes and assists.Hmmm. Let's see. Dirk led his team to a record of 67-15. He missed four games all season and the Mavs were 1-3 without him. He is unguardable and knows exactly when to share the ball and when to shoot or drive. He's even playing defense this year; no, he's not on the NBA all defensive team, but he's tons better than before. He's also delivered all season, every game. He's found ways to get wins for his team, and THAT'S what being an MVP is all about.
dude - If it is so easy for Nash to drop a pass to Amare for a big dunk, then why aren't other players doing it? There are other great dunkers in the league who have point guards who could give it to their dunker; it's easy, right?! WRONG!
Captor of Sin - I believe that if Kobe were not on the Lakers, all the other players would step up. After all, the Lakers are 3-2 without Kobe in the lineup. I believe that they would play a lot more like a team than one guy and four others on the floor.
And to all of you thinking Kobe should be the MVP, if he really were MVP material then the Lakers would be better than 42-40.

Dirk deserves the MVP award this year.He worked and tried way harder than Steve,Kobe,or all the other MVP contestants. He just led his team to the NBA Champoinship!Without him they would probably barely make the playoffs. He is the best shooter in the NBA right now. How many players do you know are 7 feet tall and can shoot three pointers. Barely any and on top of that how many are as good as Dirk?NONE! Dirk just brought his team to 1st in his division. He is no doubt gonna make it to the Hall of Fame.
