Nash or Nowitzki for MVP: give me your best argument?
Question:my vote is for nash. here's why:
- the suns are 2-4 without him. this disproves the notion that phoenix can still win without Nash, hence proving that the suns starts and ends with him. the mavs, however, is still a capable team without dirk.
-stats. Nash is posting the best stats of his career, including scoring, fg%, and assists. his team has 60 wins.
-clutch time. when you have dirk, you count on him to take the last shot. (which as we've seen throughout history, has a tendency to fall short when it REALLY counts) when you have nash, not only can you count on him to take the shot, but also make the pass to the open man.
to discount the counter arguments:
1. nash does play defense. the thing is, he gets attacked more oftern than others cause he's the "skinny white guy".
2. think about this: if wilt bird and russell had 4 mvps instead of 3, would you vote for nash then? its really stupid to argue that nash is not on par with those 3 when we're only talking about the reg season.

Is Longer Legs a disadvantage playing basketball?
I agree with the person before. This is not a race issue. Nobody attacks Nash on D because they think he is a skinny white guy. He is just smaller than most point guards. And yes, people do not think Nash deserves it because he isnt on par with Bird or Russell. Winning back to back to back MVPS or winning 3 in general is a huge honor. Not even Michael Jordan won 3 Regular Season MVP awards. I do think that although the Suns are 2-4 w/o Nash, that is only 4 losses. Dirk is a durable player and has tweaked his ankle and overcome other such bumps and bruises. If you want to talk about wins, the Mavs have the most wins in the NBA. Dirk has led them in scoring and rebounding all season. Dirk can be counted on to take the last shot, yes, but he also has been known to give up the ball in a clutch situation. If Nash is truly an MVP, why doesnt he take the game-winning shot. I mean, he is obviously the team's best player and there is a thin line in being unselfish and being passive. There are times when both of these players have been passive in the clutch or even non-existent (Nowitzki missed key fts against the Suns about a month ago). Both the Suns and the Mavs are quality basketball teams. Neither of them are playing with subpar talent anymore. Nash has Amare, Marion, Barbosa, Diaw, Raja Bell. Nowitzki has Jet, Stack, Howard, Devin Harris. These two teams are probably the deepest in the league and one of them is going to win the MVP, and for Nash his past two MVPS have been a testament to how he helped developed Diaw, Barbosa, and even Amare with his impeccable court vision.. But I do not think they are the Most Valuable Player to their team. Kobe Bryant is the most valuable player in the NBA. The Lakers, quite frankly if you watched the game last night against Phoenix, are a horrible basketball team minus Kobe. Raja Bell played amazing defense on Kobe and forced him into tough shot after tough shot. The Lakers are now 40-40 and have the second-worst record after the all-star break and thats not Kobe's fault. Kobe has been on a scoring spree the past two months. How can one person score 50 and his team still lose. It has happened twice this year with the Lakers. His teammates dont defend well. They dont shoot well. They dont rebound well. They have no confidence and they play like college basketball players. Kobe is Option A, B, and C and if he passes the ball probably prays that his teammates can make a shot. Lamar Odom misses countless jumpers and layups. Walton does the same. Bynum is erratic but yet the Lakers are still battling for a playoff spot. You give Kobe talent around him, then they would have clinched already. Now many say Kobe is a ballhog, but he has tried that "good teammate" approach. The Lakers led Phoenix 3-1 last year and Kobe trusted his teammates, which doomed them to failure. Throughout the year, Kobe wasnt scoring as much, shooting less, and his team was doing well. Well, then they went on a huge losing streak and have also lost 6 of their last 9 (now 7 of their 10 games) and are in danger of missing the playoffs. If you watched Phoenx-LA last night, Kobe only scored 17 and his team lost. Kobe shot the ball bad against Denver Monday, and his team lost. Basically, if he scores 50 they lose and if he scores 17 they lose. So, he has the burden of winning games singlehandy on offense and Kobe has turned the Lakers from a lottery team to a playoff contending team. Not saying he will win. He should be considered...he is the MVP but the award is going to go to Nash or Nowitzki.Nowitzki, because Nash won the last 2 years, and look at the Mavericks team without Nowitzki could they be nearly as good?
Is the Dallas Mavericks America's team?
best argument is ask again when the playoffs are over.I can give you my opinion about Nowitzki whom I think is a better candidate but since you already gave your opinion, probably you would give your best answer to someone who voted for Nash.
Dirk can rebound, score, jumpers, 3s
Nash can: pass, score, jumpers, 3s, steal.
Slitest of edges towards Nash
Did the Warriors truly beat the Mavericks, or did the Mavericks just give it to the Warriors?
Give it to Nash as you said the suns are 2-4 without him and he is a better passer teammate leader all things most NBA teams lack in.How do u teach yourself to shoot a basketball left handed if your right handed?
Neither. Lebron deserves it. The Cavs would be nothing without Lebron.Kobe
Can Golden State reach the NBA Finals?
NashSomeone help me understand this?
Dirk. He was gone 4 two weeks and they lost it all. that mean Valuable. Nash is the same way 2 but its weird picking him 3 times in a row.Does anyone agree that the reason the Nuggets will receive a first round exit because?
I'm almost certan it's going to be nash because of how well he has done in the past. Almost nobody calls him the skiny white guy and if they do thats dumb. He is white but he is all mustle thats just how basket ball players are and even if he was the 'skinny white guy' thats the only thing really against him right? All i'm saying is if nash has won soo many ttimes in the past why wouldn't he win now. he may have lost mustle mass or did somthing to mess him self up like way too much practice and stress but the odds of that are like 1 outta 100 percent right? all i'm trying to say heere is i'm almost positiv that nash has it for sureWho will win the final game Houston or Utah?
Everyone knos that Dirk is this years MVP. Even steve Kerr says that Dirk has done plenty of stuff to keep him in the lead, where Nash cant catch up with him. There is my arguement and that is all i need to say. If i needed to argue even more this page would have been relly long and i mean really long.More Questions & Answers...
