In an NBA box score, what are "team rebounds"?
It isn't the sum of the team's rebounds, but something else. Usually in the single digits. Been wondering for a while now. Here is a link to an example: http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/boxscore?ga...

Where did all these Warrior fans come from?
Team rebounds fill in a vacancy in the stats. Lets use tonights Bulls-Pistons game as an example. The Bulls were 43 of 75 from the floor, which resulted in 32 rebounds, and 12 of 19 from the line, which resulted in 7 rebounds. So Bulls shots resulted in 39 rebounds.
The Pistons were 33 of 78 from the floor, resulting in 45 rebounds, and 21 of 25 from the line, which resulted in 4 more rebounds. So the Pistons shots resulted in 49 rebounds.
But when you look at the stat sheet, Bulls players only received 35 rebounds, and Pistons players only 37.
So the total shots missed were 39+49=88 missed shots. But there were only 35+37=72 player rebounds. What happened to the other 16 missed shots?
Team rebounds. The Bulls had 7, the Pistons 9, for the other 16 rebounds. But what is a team rebound? Let's say a missed shot is knocked out of bounds in the fight for the rebound. The team that gets the ball gets a team rebound; no player gets credit for a rebound because the ball went out of bounds, but the team in essence got a rebound. This is the most common instance of a team rebound.
Is it me or the spurs going after Steve Nash?
dunnoA team rebound is, when the offensive team takes a shot and misses, and the shot goes directly out of bounds. The defensive team receives a team rebound since no one person grabbed it.
How can i get in the NBA? good answers?
Team rebounds are credited to a team that gains possession of the ball after any missed shot that is not cleared by a single player (i.e. deflected out of bounds after the shot, blocked out of bounds, etc.). A team rebound is never credited to any player, and is generally considered to be a formality, as according to the rules of basketball, every missed shot must be rebounded whether a single player controls the ball or not.More Questions & Answers...
