MJ isnt a rapist.And while Im sure MJ did his share of boneheaded things, and its widely regarded that his dad was killed over MJ's unpaid gambling debts, hasnt everyone done or said something they regret? Jordan was not only head and shoulders better than everyone else, he was a years ahead of everyone else, and that can go to somebody's head really quick.

However you are missing one important fact: A really great player has the ability to elevate his team, he makes them all better. Kobe has yet to do this by himself, he had Shaq, who is unmatched in the league. Jordan elevated a team 6 times. That plus the way he played the game with no regrets or ristrictions, makes him in league to be called the all time great.

3 years after Shaq left, now he is pointing the finger at
the Team, and the owner. Thank God Jim Buss had some
guts to tell him to stop complaining and try and work to
make things better. My guess is next year he is traded.

i don't ever remember anyone calling MJ 'righteous'.but truly great players elevate those around him. Kobe has done no such thing. he took a team that could have easily won 4 or 5 more titles and broke it up...simply because he wanted to be top dog.

you make a good point.The difference between Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant is this: Michael Jordan's game didn't have many, if any holes at all. You can't say the same for Kobe. We've seen Kobe get taken out of his game on the biggest stage (2004 NBA Finals and game 7 last year vs. Phoenix). We've never seen Jordan get shut down in the playoffs, EVER! We've seen Jordan dominate individually on a losing team and we've seen him dominate as a leader on a winning team. We've never seen this from Kobe. That's your first measuring stick; their play on the basketball court.
Now, if you want to judge charectar than let me say this; From a far Michael Jordan seemed genuine and was looked at as a man. When I say "as a man" I mean Jordan didn't show any traits of weakness like Kobe does. Michael Jordan as a person has good overall personality traits. Kobe on the other hand is a sensitive socially akward loner who has been bashed by teammates, players around the league and his own coach. Kobe gets all this bad media for a reason. Because half the league and NBA viewers don't respect him and they think he is a p*ssy. Plain and simple. Shaq thought he was a b*tch and so did Phil Jackson. Michael Jordan had almost unanimous respect because he earned it. Jordan earned his respect from his totally and thoroughly dominant play on the court, the revenue and popularity he gave the sport, and his ability to first be a man among men. That is the strength and clout that Jordan had. Kobe wants what Jordan had, but his game and personaility are too weak to shoulder the load that Jordan carried. Kobe cannot co-exsist with a real, strong, high charectar teammate, that is why he and Shaq had problems. Kobe has to be thee man, at all times. Shaq having a dominant personality and a dominant game on those Laker championships threatened Kobe. He could not co-exsist with someone he could not control, or who was percieved to be the better player. As much as the Lakers won, he always wanted Shaq gone. Kobe wants what he has now, a group of talentless "yes men" too weak to challenge him so he can have all the glory and feel good about himself. It's the truth, believe it. It's like watching a spoiled selfish brat always gets what he wants, it's digusting.
