If NBA players are the best in the world, why can't they win a World Championship?

because the players in european and south american counties play together coming up through the national team system and they focus on a team first game and also focus on the fundamentals where as in the us the main focus is on the individual, so instead of creating team players we create super stars who are massively talented on their own but couldn't make their teammates better if their life depended on itThe NBA is the best in the world. Players like Duncan, Garnet, Shaq, and alot of other superstars doesn't play in the olympics. If we had all of our superstars the U.S. would win!

The other teams play together basically year round so they play "team" ball better. The USA puts there team together a few months before, have a few practices, and try to match up. USA have "Superstars" and with superstars come egos and very little teamwork. The reason is because we, the United States, can't get the players who work together as a team. For example, Allen Iverson is agreat player, don't get me wrong, but he is a one on one player not a team player, much like all the players the USA puts on the court(Carmelo,Lebron,Kobe,etc)... On the other hand foreign teams, especially European tems, even though they don't have as much talent, they work well together and concentrate on the fundamentals.Who thinks Smush Parker is the worst defender in the NBA?
NBA players are the best in terms of individual talents. Unfortunately, basketball is a team sport that needs team work. USA team consists of all superstars that want to be in the spotlight all the time. What do they get?...Their games suffer, because everyone wants to be the superstar. EGO kills!The solution: Create a team as early as 1 year ahead of the tournament and practice together until they gel...until they play as a team and not just to show off their individual talents!

NBA superstars are not used to play for the team. They used to be on the teams playing for them. Best foreign teams have 1-2 superstars and 5-7 good role players, just like NBA teams. But US team is like an all-star team - lots of talent and not enough of a teamwork. Now they have guys like Battier - these guys will be the most important for the team success. Also a World Championship is like NCAA tournament - one bad game and you are done. I am sure the US team would win a best-of-7 series against any other team in the world, but it may not win 7-out-of-7 against 7 different decent teams. You win 6-of-7 - and it's only a bronze ...Do you think the Spurs really wanted this to happen?
becuz world championship teams from other countries play together most of the year while the nba players get thrown together and expect to win after playing a long season and they were inviting the best players not the best players at the position the nba have the better players but the world championship has the best teams and until the best players at each position go like the first dream team then dont expect gold from the U.S. anytime soonWho do you think should change uniforms: Lakers or Suns?
