What do you think of the NBA's ruling for the suspension of the Suns and Spurs players?

Are the suspensions justified? Is the rule right or wrong? Should the league use judgment and go with the spirit of the rule or stick with the letter of the law to teach player's lessons? Is it hypocritical that Duncan was not punished? Is the league showing favortism towards the Spurs?

Who is a better player?

I'm disgusted. The team that was the aggressor is benefiting for just beating up on a star player. I don't think there is any malice or favoritism, the league is following a vague rule to the letter, but two games in a row Steve Nash has been clobbered unnecessarily and intentionally. Bowen gets nothing. Baron Davis got nothing, Jason Richardson got nothing. Horry gets 2 games, probably just because of the other suspensions (they had to throw somebody from the Spurs in). And Stoutamire and Diaw for simply standing up for their teammate get a game. Why not just throw scrubs out to beat on the star players so you incite something to get people suspended? Why not employ enforcers like in hockey? I say the Spurs make Stu Jackson the MVP if they win the title. Just disgusting. I'm not even a Suns fan, but this just isn't fair, it's ridiculous.

What is an altercaton anyway? What is vecinity? What is the definition? This is a vague rule and in following this to the letter you have completely missed the point. The Spurs get to just beat up on the Suns without reprecussions? Let me ask you, without the Suns suspensions, given what happened with the other judgements in the Golden State Series and previous decisions on Bruce Bowen would Horry have even been suspended? When this happens are your priorities in the right place?

And the whole do the crime, serve the time argument is a cop-out. Look at what's going down here. The Spurs orchestrated all of this and the NBA gave them exactly what they wanted.

Basketball Fans..?

the suspensions were fair ,but none of this would have happened if the refs would control the game. Hold them accountable and suspend them

Baron Davis Vs Dirk Tonight.?

"It is not a matter of fairness, it's a matter of correctness," said Stu Jackson, NBA executive vice president, "and this is the right decision at this point of time." Jackson said it was clear that Stoudemire and Diaw had violated the rule, saying they were "20 to 25 feet" from their seats.

"Both players stood and made their way towards the altercation which occurred on the court," Jackson said. "They did not remain in the bench area."

Jackson brushed aside a suggestion that Tim Duncan violated the rule in the second quarter when he rushed onto the court after Francisco Elson dunked and landed on the shoulders of the Suns' James Jones.

"Both players got up," Jackson said. "There was no altercation, and they ran down to the other end of the court."

Jackson also wasn't buying Stoudemire's contention he had a right to be at the scorer's table because he was checking in to the game.

"I've not seen a player report in quite that way," Jackson said.

Why do KOBE BRYANT jockers hate me (JDWJ76)?

They might not be fair, but it's right. You did the crime, you serve the time.

Shaquile O'Neal's Wife?

The league has to follow the rules. But I expect that the rule will be changed over the summer. There is too much controversy over it. There should be more thought into the new rule to account for human tendancies.

How long is Tim Duncan out for?

apparently since there wasn't an altercation going on it didn't matter that duncan was on the court. stupid nba.

LOL .Well well well...How does it feel Dallas LOSER Maverick fans to get STOMPED?

the NBA got it completely wrong.
they are showing everyone that if you play dirty, and induce your opponent to do something wrong, you will benefit.

Upper Deck Michael Jordan autographed card?

The rules were right. They might not seem fair but every player in pro basketball knows every rule, so it's their own responsibility to not break those rules, not even their teams responsibility. So i think they're very fair and people should stop complaining about it cuz it will destract the players from the game and none of us want that no matter who's suspended or not.

What did the girl in colorado say Kobe actually did to her?

It was unfortunate, but it was correct, however, it now makes
it impossible for the Spurs to win, because of the whining
from Suns fans. No one is talking about personal responsibility, no one pushed those two players to run, onto the Court, Horry was walking away.

Would Dirk Marry Me? Can I do things that would make him forget about that last series?

I think that it is totally justified. The players broke a rule that they all know is strictly enforced. Is it hypocritical Tim DUncan didn't get suspended? No. Many people are failing to read the actual rule.
There are two key words in it that kept Duncan in the clear... "Altercation" and "vicinity." Look at the replay.. there was no altercation when DUncan stepped on the court. Elson falls on Jones, kind of looks at him (camera shoots to GInobilis face for like a second) then shows Elson getting up and going downcourt. No altercation that I saw. And VIcinity. Amare and DIaw (Diaw more questionable) were not in the immediate area of their bench. They both went directly toward the altercation. Diaw stopped a few feet before Amare was stopped by the coached. According to the reports I've read, they were 20 and 25 feet away from the bench. Tim DUncan merely stepped a few feet onto the court, right in front of his bench.
No, the league isn't showing favoritism towards the Spurs. The vast majority of those that think so are either Suns fans or people who flat out hate the Spurs. Personally, I dont care about either team. I'm beginning to lean toward the Spurs just because most of the Suns fans on here are saying the Spurs are dirty and all that nonsense. The league is following the rulebook. It sucks it happened. But you have to look at it with an unbiased eye. Anyways , if the Suns are as good as their fans claim (and as their record shows) they theoretically should stil be able to win.

Good question... it has substance.

Horry's dirty foul on Nash - Blame the NBA and David Stern?

I think the NBA failed miserably in their suspensions. They are rewarding Horry and the Spurs for a cheap shot. Not everything is black and white. This was a gray area, and they need to look at the big picture. I am a huge NBA fan and rarely miss a game, and I think they are punishing the fans, as well. Clearly we need to have rules to prevent brawls, but why not just fine those who leave the bench. They certainly didn't make the problem worse. Suspending those two is basically the league handing the Spurs the series. I hope the Suns can use this as motivation and teach the Spurs a lesson. This series, and possibly the championship should not be determined by a cheap shot and a lame rule. As a fan, I wish the league would do the right thing. If you are going to follow the letter of the law, suspend Duncan and Bowen as well. However, I think they should all just have the chance to play basketball (except Horry) and let them decide whose moving on, not David Stern.

What do you think who will win the Harlem Globetrotters or the NBA dream team this season?

No I don't think it is justified. Its like the Spurs are getting rewarded for causing a terrible foul. Its like Steve Nash is getting the hell beat out of him, and the Spurs aren't even being punished for most of it. Wow so Horry gets suspended. He only avgs. like 4.5 points a game. This series has been a very physical and very heated one. Stoudemire and Diaw weren't the first ones to come off the bench like that. But they sure were the first to get suspended. I think it is out of ignorance and bias that Jackson decided to "brush" off the idea that Tim Duncan ever had anything to do with any altercation, when he clearly did the same thing.

On another note, what team wouldn't have left the bench after a foul like that. Why not just stab Steve Nash on the court in front of everybody. They are basically crucifying him, and its been happening the whole series, so of course the team is going to start jumping up and saying something, you have to in situations like that.

How about those makericks!!!!!?

The RULE is a fair one, the RULING is unfair. Its rediculous that the league has refused to acknowledge that the same thing happened earlier in the game wth Bruce Bowen and Tim Duncan. Both players CLEARLY left the bench during an altercation that took place during the game, and Duncan was clearly walking toward the incident. Bowen walked onto the court to retrieve Duncan, which still violates the rule.

The rule being a blanket rule is rediculous, especially when it is not held to the blanket standard that it implies. I am aware of at least 7 different national petitions being done to challenge the NBA officials to explain their reasoning.

There needed to be suspensions for everyone, or only the players involved in the altercation. (Horry and Bell). So there should have been either 6 or 2, but certainly nowhere in between. If you make a rule that applies 100% of the time, then you had better apply it 100% of the time. The league has dropped the ball yet again on this.

I find it hard to believe that the League has chosen to "Favor" the Spurs, seeing as that would likely result in the the SA/DET finals... which would retrieve them a very low rating, as the game will be a 70/71 game. lol

The ruling was simply based on the incompetance of the league, and this might have been punishment for Amare questioning their lack of rulings earlier in the series...

Jason kidd is averaging 13.5 points 12 assists and 10 rebounds -A TRIPLE DOUBLE?

a bad rule was correctly enforced. it's just that simple
as for Duncan, you don't get suspended for stepping onto the court. You get suspended for stepping onto the court during an altercation. There was no altercation when Duncan stepped onto the court. He was celebrating the slam, then made a wincing expression with his neck as Elson fell. Look at the video on youtube for goodness sake
the suspensions were a shame
on to Game 6
