Steve Nash and Tim Duncan: How Good Are They?
Question:Steve Nash, one of my favorite players, is the second-best point guard in the NBA (only Jason Kidd is better). Tim Duncan, my favorite player, is arguably the best player in the entire NBA ... and arguably the best power forward of all-time.
Nearly every post I've read about Steve Nash has praised his play. And for good reason: he's played well in the playoffs. But, nearly every post about Tim Duncan has criticized his play. His oft-cited criticism? Boring play.
Tim Duncan is a GREAT player. He does everything well (offensively and defensively), AND he's won championships. Steve Nash is an exceptional player, but he's not a great player. Nash is outstanding on the offensive end but far from exceptional on the defensive end. Moreover, unlike Duncan, Steve Nash hasn't been to the NBA Finals.
I like both players but don't understand the huge number of one-sided comments. So, what's your opinion of each player ... in terms of their ABILITY, not their style?

well to start off you cant compare them simply becuase they play different positions.steve nash will go down as the best canadian nba player of all time no question about it,he makes everyone around him better cause he can find anyone through traffic and especially on fastbreaks.he is a two time mvp and the man is a very good shooter.however he stills needs to prove us he is a champ by winning a championship and i think he will in about 2- 3 years.now tim duncan is a monster.3 time world champion and counting.he forces the double team with his dominating skills in the paint.he is the one that turn the spurs franchise around before the spurs had drafted him the spurs was one of the leagues worst team enough saidKG out of minnestoa next year?

Timmy may be the best player of the new generation. Here's why:Duncan has 3 rings. Outside of Mr Robinson, can you name one legit superstar he's played with? You can't. He's played with very good players. But no great players. That's what makes him so phenomenal.
Nash is great. But he does not contribute triple double numbers and he's a liability on defense.
Oh, and he's never won either.
Other words, I'm with you, cousin. I don't get it.
