Question:What would you predict the Lakers record would have been this year is Kobe averaged 20 points 10 assists and 5 rebounds?
if Kobe averaged 38 points 4 assists and 6 rebounds?
and what seed and how far would the lakers have gone in the playoffs, if you think they would have made the playoffs in either scenario. Explain.

obviously the second rebounding is better so that category is done.
Now it is 20 and 10 vs 38 and 4. Even if all the assists are on 3 pointers Kobe is contributing 50 points to his team either by scoring or passing in both cases and B has the edge in rebounds so B's line is better.
That's strictly numbers though, the big question is how is he shooting in each case? If it's 20 points on 50% shooting that's better than 38 on 40% shooting.
Need to include all the important information. If he's getting the 38 points on 60% shooting for instance the lakers probably win the division.
Everything relies on how he's shooting in each instance as that shows the efficiency of each line and how many shots are left for his teamates.

They would of done better if he passed since he wouldnt be so tired after every quarter... if he averaged 38 points a game how would his team get the ball too score which would eventually bring their downfall and lead too a lose...Well I think they may have been as good as 5th in the West and my reasoning is that even if he would have averaged 40 ppg and 3 apg he would have taken far too many low quality shots, even if they are shot by him. The shooting percentage for the team would be lower by say 5%. If Kobe would find the open man, than a more quality shot would be taken. I would take a wide open shot from Luke Walton or a layup from Lamar Odom any day over a well defended, maybe even double teamed, fadeaway. Now lets say they more open shots and layups are taken so the shooting percentage will probably go up 5%. That is a 10% swing in itself. How is a team going to win by shooting 38% in comparison to a team shooting maybe the high 40% range. Another thing to take into account is Tmac and the rockets. While Yao was injured, Tmac had less surrounding talent than Kobe did, and still managed to help the Rockets get the 4th seed in the West. While Yao was out, he averaged over 8 assists per game. It obviously went down when Yao came back because the offense runs through Yao mainly. I hope that helps.

Well, first off, in order for him to average 10 assist a game, he needs teammates who can hit outside jumpers. Vujacic is probably their best shooter and he doesn't play much. Too many WIDE open jump shots from Walton, Smush, Odom, etc are missed. Kobe is forced to take all the shots, because he's the only who can make them.Also, the triangle would need to be stripped from the playbook. Remember, neither Jordan or Pippen averaged that many assist in that system.
So until both of those happen, the question truely can't be answered.
