Did Michael Jordan kill Professional Basketball?

It just doesn't appeal to me as much as it did when he was playing. Nothing against the current players, but Jordan brought the sport to a new level, that I don't think is possible to beat...

Scoreboard keeper should be FIRED?

Just like other professional sports, FREE AGENCY has killed the appeal. Now, fans root for the uniform, not the players.

NBA final playoffs?

I would agree. I still watch/follow teams, but it isn't the same!

What would be the greatest NBA team ever assembled starters and bench?

I don't think it was MJ alone. The current players aren't as appealing to me as Bird, Magic, Worthy, and Jordan. Nor are they as appealing as other 1980-90s stars such as Akeem, Robinson, and later stars such as Shaq and Duncan.

The LeBrons, Carmelos, Kobes, McGradys don't do it for me. I do have hope that the Mavs and Suns can continue to revive the great team basketball and Wade can add some star power.

Gerald green dun champ?

no mj did not kill it . there is still a lot of exciting play to wach AI, D.WADE kobe bryant.

What team in the NBA is going to win the championship?

We all went thru this with Dr J, how no one would ever out do him on the court, then there was the Magic and the boys, and then the explosion of MJ. You simply go thru peaks and valleys. Now it's a valley. Wait on it, have patience, it'll get better. In the meantime, no, basketball is still alive, and will be alive long after we are all dead and buried.

Has anybody ever won 16 straight NBA playoff games?

I think people just get tired of it, in my opinion they need to make some changes to make it more exciting, kind of like NCAA and NFL. Less games, and more chance for an upset in the playoffs. Maybe make the playoff games on a neutral court and less games to be played in both the playoffs and the season. Who wants to sit and watch a team play 81 games..

OK seriously, when do they announce the MVP?

No, David Stern did. He was the one who allowed high school players and un-developed college player to come to the NBA. That is why most of the players today (young) are not good shooters, passers and rebounders. But they can sure do a crossover double reverse dunk behind their backs..
Just take a look at how US players get their butts kicked in the international game.

Is the bay area really as crappy as charles says it is and isnt it funny that krispy kreme donut capital is?

no he defined the game and thats better than killin' it

Who is the worst NBA player right now? and not worst because u hate but by skills.?

No he didnt it was professional basketball that killed itself!Jordan but is only a barometer right and to set the standard high to all the players. The players right now are flat out disappointing. All talk no game, overhyped and overrated and most of all cry-babies!lawless criminals who are arrogant and dont know how to follow laws. You are definitely right about Jordan raising the game to new heights but no one has succeeded him thats the problem.Who in the NBA right now is deserving to be called an NBA legend and the one everybody loves?Kobe?well he is good and all but the rape case really hurt his image.Image is something so fragile that even a tiny crack is impossible to fix!Lebron?I still think he is overhyped. This generation of stars for me are incapable of raising the level of game to what Jordan brought it because there are too many people that went out of high school with unpolished skills and great inexperience thinking they can succeed in the NBA's level. They're trying to follow a trend,a shortcut to success but with very dire consequences.Their unpolished skills are hurting the quality of the NBA's players that also goes with those college player who overestimate thier talent and leave early.NBA's talent has greatly degraded and even has to rely on foreign players to pull it out of its current obscurity.Plus most of these athletes are professional whiners, being not able to follow laws and bark at referees for their own lack of game.So pathetic 10 years ago that never happened,or seldom happens, people are so arrogant, what happened to the era where I idolize NBA players on and off the court?Players right now stab each other, take drugs, brawl, not exactly a right image they want the NBA to portray to the youths.Geesh they're making the NBA some kinda gangsta village or something. With the league in its current status it is impossible for it to reach another level! It became the opposite, unless another prodigy or player that trully exites people springs up NBA's quality is going to decrease.

Am I your Favorite User who Slam dunk over you??

Did MJ kill pro basketball? Are you flipping kidding me? The idea of that even angers me. He made basketball what it is. He showed us what a real basketball player was. A comparison to show us how big of punks most basketball players of today are (Kobe, Artest, etc). Don't ever say Jordan killed basketball. If anyone killed or is killing basketball its Kobe Bryant. Watching him shoot 40+ shots in a night and then doing horrible things off the court and still being considered "great" makes me want to throw up.

What was the greatest number of rookies on a single team ever?

as a huge MJ fan i say no. he didn't kill bball. Have you seen Kobe, honestly he is on his way to becoming MJ or better. hate to say it.

The Texas A&M Hire...?

Yes. He made it a ghetto league. The worst basketball ever.

Has Jeff Green declared for the NBA draft?

David Stern was the main culprit in the demise of professional basketball, although Jordan played a huge role.

Nowadays, the NBA is just a form of entertainment, not a great competitive sport, and Stern marketed it that way. And in the process, lost all of the educated basketball fans.

Instead of focusing on talent and teamplay , Stern promoted individual players, making them bigger than they actually were, i.e...Michael Jordan. Look at the first Bulls championship.it wasn't the Bulls vs. the Lakers, it was Jordan vs. Magic. And look who got the series MVP, not Scottie Pippen, who really deserved it, it was Michael Jordan, the more popular player.

And nobody in the history of basketball got more preferential treatment from officials like Jordan did, who was allowed to travel, and commit fouls to enhance his defensive image. Think back to when Wilt Chamberlain played. He was so dominant, they changed rules in order to STOP his dominance, not enhance it like Jordan. Jordan was never a great outside shooter, so what does the league do? Moves in the 3-point line to the college level, so Jordan can make 3's.

Then, he expanded the league to 29 teams, thereby diluting the talent pool, and now you have teams that would barely make the playoffs in the 1980's winning championships.

This is why I haven't followed the NBA for years.

"MD_Terrapin...Michael Jordan led the league in field goal attempts in almost every year he played ( 9 TIMES! ). Last year was the FIRST time in his career that Kobe ever led the league in that category. Typical Jordan fanatic....LOL

Why does everyone hate Dallas?? It makes no sense!?

When Jordan first came to the basketball scene ppl have not seen any player quite like him, and now there are plently of players with the same high-flying style as Jordan did.i don't think he is the reason basketball doesn't seem like the way it used to be though. I think now there isn't any team that is dominating the scene like the Jordan-led Bulls did in their best days. There isn't a team that'll go anywhere and get welcomed as if they're playing at home everytime, where they're universally liked.
