Jv basketball help?

I just started working out at the gym my goal, since I am in eighth grade, is to make the junior varsity basketball team next year in high school. Since I am pretty short, I want to try out for either point guard or shooting guard. I need help with what I should work out on while I am at the gym such as arms, legs and what I should do... Plus, I want help with what I should be doing at my house while I'm playing basketball by myself to get me better ex: how to improve my passing or shooting.

Shooting form?

k while u are lifting, do legs, like squats, clean, leg press, and then do bench press, that will help your jumping ability and then a little bench to help your upper arm strength, but then shooting around, just pick out spots to shoot from, sometimes when i shoot around i start with layups and shoot like 3 shots from a couple feet, and then take a step back every time and shoot from like 5 spots and dont move on till i make every shot, or something that happend to me, is when i was younger i was shorter and slower and didnt have any moves, and i shot three after three and now (I'm your age) i'm taller and quicker but yet i shoot threes all the time, so now i kinda play every position and its really nice to be able to shoot from outside because it opens the driving lanes too, so i hope that helped you out a little bit,

The Most underrated duo?

Dont Lift Weights! You're in eighth grade, so you dont want to damage your growth. This guy I know was pretty tall in elementary school, bu then he just started workin out and know he's a midget. Work on your game, like shootin and dribbling. When you shoot, remember to keep your elbow in. Many youngsters and even pros shoot with their elbows out. Keep your eye on the hoop. Play hard on defense, and just play with confidence. Good Luck!

In the NBA, why is an assist called a dime?

I would say that the most important thing I could suggest having played College basketball, To impress a coach is first and foremost is to work hard. I mean hard! no matter what. Run every wind sprint as hard as you can. Work hard on defense even if there more talented ballers trying out you will impress most coach's with defense. As for your game flash isn't the be all end all. Think of the best players in the world, fundamentals!
If you want to be a guard work on your off hand. Even if your working out at your house dribble until you drive your parents nuts. then lay on the floor and shoot the ball working on your follow through. but just play as much as you can. find people who are better then you and play with them. but focus on your game, not on flash.

Who is the best jump shooter in the NBA that i can learn from?

Playing basketball almost all my life one thing i suggest is you go to your local park or gym. PG is probably one of the toughest positions to play and it is not something that you just pick up in the backyard. You need to improve your ball handling, court vision, awareness, and passing abilities.

As far as improving your skills at home try shooting alot!
You can also look online google it on ball handling drills to improve your handle.

Working out specially your legs is also important. Try squats and one good calf excercise you can do is calf raises. It should help you jump higher to off set your height.

Basketball also requires a lot of conditioning. One way you can impress your coach is by hustling. Hustling for a long period of time is very exhausting so it helps alot being well conditioned.

Good luck!

Most underrated team in the NBA?

Listennnn. to ya boy. When it comes to weight lifting don't i repeat don't power lift. Power lifting is like maxing out or seeing how much weight you can lift one time. Don't over work your muscles either just do enough to feel a little burn. Over working your body to young can mess up a development, but it is ok to lift a little. If you really want to do something physical then sprint (sprinting builds strong legs and makes you faster and jump higher). When it comes to your game at home work on free throws with proper form elbows in (this will help you improve shooting and if you make the team you will get more play time if you can hit free throws). Next work on lays with both hands, from a stand position and like a fast break type lay ups running. Then work on your handles (keep head up while dribbling) to where you can drive to the hole with either hand on either side and be able to make quick cuts with either hand. Also work on dribbling behind your back. You want to feel in control at all times while dribbling (it helps to walk around your neighborhood dribbling). Once you can do all that I know you will make the team guaranteed. O yeah one more thing try and find as many pick up games with kids who are better than you (it will help expose your weaknesses and strengths) and always always hustle on both end of the court never quit especially on defense. If you meet someone who's good why not ask them to help you with your game.
