I would say that Dirk is definitely better. T-Mac has the raw skill but where has it led him? He has amazing high-lights at times but he isn't the consistent contributor that Nowitzki is because of back injuries and inability to live up to his potential. With Dirk what you see is what you get, a huge post man who loves to play the perimeter. The only downside to his play is that he can't be the big man in the middle but that just isn't his type of play. He is a nightmare for defenses, who can they put on him?So overall I'd say that based on all that and postseason acheivements Dirk is head and heels above McGrady.

If you had asked me this question 5 years ago I would have said Dirk,........ I loved his game entering the league. There was a reason he was considered the next Larry Bird, but i think TRACY McGRADY is 10 times better than Dirk will ever be....... why you ask?
He was a different player entering the league. Dirk was a 7ft slasher who dunked on players left and right, he had heart, he banged the boards, and could still drop the 3pointer. His was a mentally tougher player as well. Im sure people will say he is better now than he was then, scores more, blah blah, but dont forget 5 years ago he was playing with Steve Nash & Michael finley, and we didnt single him out and evaluate him as an individual. Dirk did not have to score as much as he does now. Dirk is the teams best player now, no doubt, but even Mark Cuban always said that Finley was the best player on that team, remember him always in that #4 Jersy(Mikes #, not Dirks). Maybe some of his heart left with Mike & Steve's departures from Dallas. Dirk doesnt carry the Mavs, when it matters the most! He has un noticed Jason Terry who really lifts the mavs up, and he keeps them in alot of games, but Dirk gets the credit. Even Jerry Stackhouse has come thru big when unexpected. What Dirk gives is a given , but when he is expected to come thru big he flounders. See 2006 Finals loss to Miami, and 2007 1st Round exit to Golden State. The General didnt show up!
T-mac is hurt every year but the all-around game is way better than Dirks game is. T-Mac can dominate inside and out , play Defense, and is quicker than dirk on both ends of the court, he's just made of glass! T is also struggling to find a home, he needs to just sit down and play the rest of his days out in Houston, win or lose. If he can stay healthy for a full season, and Yao keeps improving, the world could be theirs.

Nowitzki is way better. He is a consistent scorer who can do it all. He has stepped up his D and averages about 2 blocks a game.T Mac has maybe .6 .7 per game.
Dirk can shoot from outside, drive to the hoop, and play the post game.
