Like he said at his last retirement after the Tarver fight "If the money is right I'll come out of the grave to fight." He is still marketable as is De La Hoya so until he is physically unable he will always leave the fighting option open. He is still marketable and it looks like he can be competitive in a couple different divisions yet so I would look for a super fight next year as well. Especially now he can hand pick opponents as boxers are eager for a good pay day.Then contender!! please help me with this one?
Probably not. Everyone thought he would retire after beating Tarver. If he beats Wright he'll have in his mind, "i can still beat the best out there and im a championship contender, why don't i keep fighting" if he beats Wright i think he's gonna want another rematch with Jermain Taylor. I have mixed feelings about Bernard Hopkins. I like watching him fight, but for his health i'm not sure if he should keep fighting. Ric ~We'll be right here in this forum a year from now asking the same question. Fighters like Bernard never retire, they walk around on their heels with slurred speech talking about how great they were. History is full a former boxers who stayed in the game just a little longer than they were suppose to.
Remember Philadelphia fighter Meldrick Taylor? I see him every now and then and I give him a couple of bucks and some of my time, he too thought he should fight again, now you can hardly understand a word that comes out of his mouth. Bernard is going to end up very much in the same place that Meldrick has.

Ric, if Hopkins beats Wright he'll continue to fight simply for the fact that he would still remain marketable and competitive. I see Hopkins retiring if he gets beat by Wright. And I think Winky will retire him.hopkins wont beat winky and he never could. do you think it is a coincedence that he has never fought wright till now. the only issue is the weight limit, if winky managers know what they r doing they will push for the weigh in to be held the day of the fight, not the night before

He wont retire if he wins. Not if he can get one more crack at Taylor.Personally Im not so sure Wright can beat him. In Winkys last fight he looked like he was punching like a sissy. Winky Wright is one of my favorite fighters, and he looked weak in his last bout. I thought he looked great against Taylor, and thought he was about to go on a rampage against everyone after the draw was announced. But man he looked soft his last time out.
Bernard Hopkins still looks good out there, I dont get why everyone thinks hes going to get brain damage. He hasnt been in very many wars, hes a smart fighter and usually avoids big time brawls.
I would love to see him get one more shot at Taylor, I feel they should be 1-1 against each other as it is, a 3rd fight would settle the score in my eyes. But Taylor has nothing to gain from fighting a man he is 2-0 against.
I don't know, he said he was going to retire after the domination of Tarver, He doesn't have anything to prove, I don't know what he is trying to do, If he wins he will be ranked probably in the Top 5 on my list, which will be ahead of Lennox Lewis who I have at 7.
