Boxing heading for the toilet?

it seems more and more these days that boxing is going to the crapper becasue of its so called superstars.. i want to see taylor fight someone not run around a ring or fight someone of lowered caliber only because he can make more money. i want to see mayweather fight a cotto because that is an exciting prospect of two great athletes. i don't want to see mayweather run around pot shot and run around some more. why can't boxing be about boxing anymore? i want more fights with better figthers and when i am asked to pay 60+ dollars for a fight i want them to put on a show not run around a ring and pot shot then ask for more money to fight better fighters. what do you think of the future of the sport ?

Just read the Biography on Sonny Liston?

yeah, boxing's definitely in a slump right now. not too many people are in it for the glory anymore. everyone just wants to make money. i live in italy right now and watch a lot of no name european fighters on tv and they're a lot more exciting then any ppv i've seen in the last few years. fighters just ain't hungry like they used to be. nobody wants to fight the best opponent anymore, cuz the best opponent has a chance to win and then they ain't makin money no more. its just a lot of bullshit. that's why i'd honestly rather watch a sparring match at the local gym in napoli, than catch a fight on tv. i wanna see someone who's in there to win, not dance around like a friggin fairy.

Mayweather & de a hoya fight which one won?

I think Taylor is Overrated and He will be exposed as soon as he fights JOE CALZAGHE The Ghost” Pavlik.

The Taylor fight is another example of how boring he is, btw I thought he lost both fights to Bernard Hopkins.

Is anyone watching the De Lahoya fight I need a quick update pls. Thanks?

I've been saying that for years now. With crap like Don King serving up "Tomato Cans" to his prospects...with so damn many "hometown" lousy decisions...with so many so-called champs ducking decent opponents (Stay at Home Joe Calzaghe ducking Mikkel Kessler being the one the really pizzes me off)... that's where it's headed. Right down the crapper. With so many serious combat sports coming into prominence, boxing is in dire straits. It's been corrupt forever, but here the past few years it's just gotten downright grimey. The ONLY fight I'm planning to watch in the foreseeable future is the Calzaghe/Kessler match. But I seriously doubt "Stay at Home Joe" will ever drop his nuts.

Jake LaMotta against Gus Lesnevich, who would win this one?

I agree with you 100%! I hate watching guys run around the ring for 10 rounds. I think boxing needs to go OLD SCHOOL, you fight until someone gets knocked out! That would make boxing interesting again.

Who do you think will win the fight DelaHoya or Maywheater and how much will each fighter get?

I think boxing is making a huge comeback. It was in the crapper as you said but after the Floyd Mayweather - Oscar De La Hoya fight there is renewed interest in boxing. I thought it was a pretty close match and a rematch is necessary to determine a real winner. On that night about 88 million people tuned in to watch this and many more were watching it at sports bars or closed circuit places. I was at the MGM Grand on that night and it was a mad house. There were people everywhere. I do agree with you that some boxers are not doing this for the glory anymore but for the money instead. Oscar De La Hoya made 45 million dollars while Mayweather took only 15 million. Still a lot of cash but kind of makes you think. I think boxing is making a revival and hopefully it won't go to the crapper.

Rest in Peace Diego Corrales 05-07-07?

Professional boxing is killing amateur boxing. I see either the sport's organizations just ceasing to exist or a major rule change with a sort of "tag you're it" type sport to draw in more Whitebread Junior's from the 'burbs. Professional boxing is just as credible as professional wrestling and amateur boxing is so over managed its dead.
