Was anyone impressed with Valuev tonight?
What's your take on the Valuev-Barrett fight that was on HBO tonight? I thought Valuev was impressive (for someone 7 ft.tall) in stopping Barrett but the HBO announcers didn't give him much credit for his win. What do you think?

I was impressed that someone his size was so well coordinated and seemed to have good stamina. However, considering his size I thought he would punch a little harder. What did I miss on Friday Night Fights last week (Aug 4, 2006)?
what are you talking aboutWho won de la hoya or mayweather?
yeh wat r u talking about? Was this the first time DeLaHoya faught with Mayweather?
Valuev, is a big fighter but i think what there looking at is who hes fought which is nobody and untill me does he wont be very much of nothin in the announcers eyes..holla..666If you were a professional boxer what would you have as your entrance song??
Well I think because he was taking his time and not jabbing a lot early it was hard to see his talent. As Emmanuel Stewart was saying Monte Barrett could have landed more if he threw some jabs over the fists of Valuev but it is a lot easier to say from outside the ring. You make adjustments according to the person you are fighting and Valuev did what he needed to do to take out Barrett in a dominant way. He took a couple hits and had stamina still able to throw big punches late. He did enough to impress me I guess but I don't believe that performance would have got him a victory over the bigger heavyweights like Klitchko. Time will tell, I will definitely watch him again. What happened to the boxer Mike Tyson!!?
He won. That's all that counts. And now he's undefeated in 45 fights. He showed improvement from his last 3 or 4 fights that much is certain. He also showed that he acquired a feel for pouncing on the opponent when they're at most risk of being KO'd. Before he didn't jump on them and often let the KO chance slip away. He looked like a real threat to the other Heavyweights out there today. Next will be to see how Wladimir handles Calvin Brock.
You would think that someone that big would have more KO power. If Barrett would have used his Jab and boxed unstead of fighting like a wild man he would be Hwy champ right now. As far as stamina Valuev did not have to used alot of energy because barrett held him all night allowing him to save his energy
. Give credit to Valuev for the TKO

Pancho don't get me wrong partner but until the next great heavyweight comes along or until the four alphabet soup champions decide to start fighting each other to unify the belts I could quite frankly care less. The majority of talent in boxing today is in the lighter weight classes. In order for boxing to achieve the status it had in years gone by the Heavyweight division must have a revival of sorts. There's not one single heavyweight ranked in the top ten pound for pound, and that's sad. Thanks for the question Pancho you ask some good ones.More Questions & Answers...
