Very interesting question sir! Hagler no doubt is one of the all time great middleweights along with Robinson and Monzon. He could box, punch, had great endurance and could take a good shot. Hopkins is getting close to becoming an all time great too and it's amazing what he's accomplished especially into his 40's. Hopkins is a clever fighter and also has a strong chin so this has the makings of a good fight. Hagler is stronger and would definetly be the aggressor in this battle cutting off the ring from the elusive Hopkins. This would be a competitive fight for about 7 rounds and then Hagler would come on strong landing the harder punches, trapping Hopkins and sending him into the ropes with a tremendous volley of punches and forcing the referee to intervene and stop the fight in round 10.Pick the winner of this upcoming title fight.?
Marvin by decision.Anyone from around Memphis heard about Herrington fighting Joe Frazier?
Hagler...KO in the 8th round...he was flat-out nasty in his prime.Manny Pacquiao: a Symbol for Filipino vigor?
cj ~In my opinion, Marvin would cut the ring off on Bernard and force him to fight from the opening bell, something that Bernard can't do. Bernard gets into his rhythm after the sixth round and moves backwards and side to side to avoid any kind of major confrontation. Hagler would just walk him down.
Hagler also hit harder than Bernard could and this would also allow Hagler to come forward. Hagler ate Tommy Herans right hand and it didn't faze him and Bernard Hopkins isn't nowhere near where Tommy once was.
Hagler would land the much harder punches up stairs and down making Bernard fight three minutes of every round and this would be way too much for Bernard to handle. Hagler would land huge left hands and stop Bernard late in the ninth round.
Thanks for the question cj.
How to watch boxing thru internet or cable system live from USA?
In his prime Hagler was unstop-able. Hopkins and Hagler both fought good competition both won and lost against Great fighters. Both were true Middleweights. I think the edge goes to Hagler on power and his indomitable spirit.Bernard Hopkins would win the fight in the 10th round. Marvin was a great fighter.
If a boxer dies due to injuries suffered in a match, should his opponent be charged with murder?
Lets use both boxers in their prime. I dont think its fair that you compare Hagler in his prime...and Hopkins in the twilight of his career.I think Marvin was vicious, no question. But Bernard Hopkins fought some hard punchers on the way. AND Bernard has never really been stopped or hurt.
I initially was going to say Hagler, but during Hopkins prime..I would have to say that Hopkins would likely beat Hagler. Hagler couldnt fight thinking fighters..and got easily frustratred if dragged into deep waters. Hagler was a fighter, not a thinker. Hopkins would win by decision or TKO.
Eastman won, but did he do enough to deserve a THIRD world title shot?
I would agree with Santana and Bluedevil. Hagler is at the top of this division with Robinson, Monzon. Hagler has alot more power than Hopkins. Hopkins has a good chin. Hopkins is a great fighter but Hagler fought the tougher competition and would win this fight by decision.More Questions & Answers...
