Did Oscar De la HOya seem out of shape last night?
I wouldn't answer this question typically, but people left this part out so I will. Ofcourse you didn't say your weight. But if you are of average proportion, you would be under lightweight. Now for the part nobody has touched on... AGE. I stand at 6 feet even. But when I was 14, I was 5'3" tall. If you are very young, you should not be trying to decide divisions yet. There is ALOT of training even before your first amatuer bout takes place. Think about training, because there is the possibility, you may train and spar, and realise you don't even like the sport. There are several forms of "stand up combat". I am no wimp, I am just not designed to be a boxer. You may like a good combat sport of a different dicepline. Give it a try, ALWAYS do what your trainer says, and good luck buddy. What kind of excersises should I do to get more strenght on my wrists?
Well you never told us your weight. But I'm guessing if your average weight I would say feather/light weight.it depends on how much you weigh.
get it ? WEIGHT CLASS
I would recommend that you enter the lightest weight class possible, because the heavier the weight class the taller the opponents will be. You will need to gauge your power as well. It may be worth it to compete heavier in order to maintain your power.
I fought mostly middle (160) and at 5'-9", most opponents were taller (6'-0" average). When I moved up to Light Heavy it only got worse (6'-2" average).
Keep em up!
Depends on how much you weigh. At 5 '5", you'd have to be swift on your feet because the average height for boxers nowadays is 5 ' 10" to 6 ft, which would make you target practice. Work on your speed.
