It is a very well known fact that a brilliant student need not necessarily be a brilliant teacher. The point I am making here is: How many people know of John Buchanen, the Austrailain coach for many years, was he a brilliant player himself, to my knowledge no; likewise there was one Mike Brearly captain of England who was no great shake as far as cricketing skills go; similarly who knows the name of the coach of New Zealand team. To the question in debate, my answer would be to appoint somebody, foreigner or Indian, as coach, who knows a great deal about Indian cricket and also about the skills of the established cricketers.When Sourav Ganguly vehemently wanted a foreign coach, he got John Wright who could be bossed over, but when Greg replaced him, they found him to be a strict disciplanarian, which the players did not like.
