Change in coach is necessary but that alone doesn't help when players do not have the enthusiasm in them.Coach is just a moral booster and pillar of strength when the players go down mentally and morally. The coached doesn't bring much difference in the player's caliber. Sachin's potential and his talents are the same no matter whether Gaekwad or Kapil or Greg is the coach. If Sachin is mentally and physically fit he has his same game in each and every match.
The main assignment of the coach is making the players mentally fit and making them availabe for the game with their total power. That is what Mr. Greg missed to do when India lost against Bangladesh. Even the monster win against Bermuda could help them.

Of course Tennis and Cricket cannot be confirmed. A coach is very much necessary to combine the units as a team.
Australia had the same coach as Buchanan when Mark Taylor was captain and Steve was captain. But the current team under Ponting is the best with no element of doubt. Here Buchanan has not made a big difference. But the players have put themselves together, made their team has a single unit and they have made winning matches a regularity.
So changing the coach or changing the captain doesn’t make a big difference. The change must swipe the whole Cricket Control Board, BCCI with its selectors, members, players and all other associates.
The add industry must care for the teams also. They occupy the player's trip-sheet leaving them at no point in practicing or getting mentally prepared. This is a bad point that must be noticed immediately.
This cannot happen in a fortnight. It takes time but if this is left unnoticed, soon India will playing in the qualifiers for all major tournaments and no much surprise if their test status si recommended for a ban.

Yes Indian cricket needs a new coach and very urgently too. He must be an experienced and successful ex-cricketer. He must command respect and obedience from the cricketers while being friendly and not unduly harsh on them. He should be disciplinarian. He must be devoted and sincere to his job which he must look at as a full time profession. He must be a good strategist. He must be in sync with the psyche of the Indian players. Two names come immediately to the mind - Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, both legends of Indian cricket.
