We do not have one dish that you might call our national dish.There are hundreds of recipies mostly forgotten now.I have one very old cookbook full of them.In the seventeenth century our cooking was concentrated very much on seafood.
In dutch we call this 'zeebanket' .It is a table full of different seafoods,marinated herring,anchovees,smoked eel and smoked herring,shrimps,mussels,oyster... and so on.Along with it a lot of fresh salad ,certain vegetables and sauces.
