Australia's binding foce is Ponting. If you observed, Australia lost most of the times when Ponting was not captaining. You could have seen during Gilchrist's times.So, captain is very important. It may take a while for Ponting to get the team together, but it will surely happen.

i think they have been over worked/trained, john bucannan needs to look at his training scedualfor starters.they have also had a few key injuries, andrew symonds and brett lee, and also adam gilchrist and ricky ponting are being rested.
damian martyn has retired and is no longer playing one day cricket, and glenn mcgrath is getting older and not what he use to be.
selectors have buggered up not putting the leading test wicket takers stuart clarke into the side, and they are also missing a quality spinner.
comming into the world cup, symonds and lee should be fit to play, and glichrist and pointing will be back in the side. they have a very strong batting line up, we just go to hope the bowlers produce the goods on the day and i think the aussies are in with a good chance :)

But, I still feel it is just normal for a team to slump like that. There's nothing wrong with it. From an indian point of view, i would say the timing of this slump is great as it strengthens our chances of seeking revenge for the last WC defeat!! Hurray!

The main reason why Australia is losing now is because some of their senior players have retired and some are currently injured.Maybe pride come before a fall.
I know they rest player so they be ready for the world cup.
But it could work against them. By giving team an advantage.

The game of cricket is a big leveler.It takes you to heights and brings you down also.
The wheel does not remain at one place, it goes up and down. The tendency of water is also such. however, up may store it, it has to come down from there.
Hence, one will not remain static. After reaching top, there is only one place, that is, to fall or come down. Thats what happened with West Indies, even Aussies and hence this current phenomena is also not such new thing.
From peak you can only come down, you can not go further up. See the slide for time being, till they settle down with new team and its members.
